haha very funny! Dortmund fans are class!

Dortmund fans:

I plotted your likely walking route from the fountain in Piccadilly Gardens to the stadium (Via Piccadilly train station as the map shows). According to Google Maps this will take 39 minutes. You are going to be walking in a group, singing songs and maybe picking up other fans from the train station, so yes, it will take just under an hour.

We can get there in a shorter time because we know little short cuts and just want to get to the stadium rather than travelling in a big group, which tends to be slower, that's why City fans on this thread have said it doesn't take as long as this.

Enjoy your trip to Manchester.

Wilfblue. Sorry, Wilfred.

If you have time why not visit the National Football Musesm. It's free. It's recently opened. It's situated in the Urbis Building(you can't miss it), next to Exchange Square and the Printworks.(plenty of bars)

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.nationalfootballmuseum.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.nationalfootballmuseum.com/</a>

Also. For some decent bars go to the NQ(Northern Quarter) and get a true sense what Manchester was like. It's only a few minutes from Piccadilly Gardens. Ask anyone for directions.

This map shows you where the NQ is from Piccadilly Gardens. (red marker shows NQ) <a class="postlink" href="http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&sugexp=eesh&cp=17&gs_id=1u&xhr=t&q=northern+quarter+manchester&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.&biw=1184&bih=613&wrapid=tljp1349086322711032&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wl" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&sug ... a=N&tab=wl</a>

List of the bars.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.manchesterbars.com/location-northernquarter.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.manchesterbars.com/location- ... uarter.htm</a>

Also. Manchester bars by location. <a class="postlink" href="http://www.manchesterbars.com/location.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.manchesterbars.com/location.htm</a>

You can also try Deansgate, Deansgate Locks, the Printworks, the Gay Village, and numerous other bars and pubs dotted througout the city centre.

The Labour Party conference is currently taking place in Manchester, so the city centre will be packed. Enjoy the game. ;-)

Thank you very much! Nice1.
If you should come to Dortmund, don't hesitate to ask me for some locations in and around Dortmund.

Many European away fans head for Shambles Square. This is right next to Exchange Square, part of Machester's Shopping district, the Printworks, and the National Football Museum.

The area from the air.

Just walk down Market Street, Manchester's main shopping street, and turn right at the end. 5 minutes from Piccadily Gardens. Just ask anyone. Unfortunately the weather isn't looking promising for drinking outside. :-(

If any Dortmund fans are interested in history, it may be worth mentioning that the walk from Picadilly to the ground skirts the Ancoats mill areas, birthplace of the industrial revolution*and where the German industrialist and writer Engels took inspiration for his work 'The Condition of the working class in England'...which led to the Engels/ Karl Marx work 'The Communist Manifesto'...

*and Manctheknife.

Mods/Ric:

Would it be possible to put some of the maps from the documentbelow into the Club section of the main site. The map on page 9 is the best one that I've seen for showing the stadium layout and the ones on page 7 are handy for visitors too.

I know these should be on the Club OS and there may be copyright issues but I'm asking because we get quite a few requests on Bluemoon from occasional visitors asking which entrance do they go to for their seat and where is it.

If the club don't let you use the images when you ask them it may give them a kick up the arse to make the directions on their site a lot more user friendly.

cheers.
