Zum Uerige (Most well know pub. Good atmosphere and best place to go)

Engel (rock pub with football)

Hausbrauerei zum Schlussel (beer hall. Open 10 til midnight midweek)

Da Spiegel (Live music)

Bräuerei Schumacher - oldest brewery/bar in the City. Right round the corner for us. Might be good for decent food. Open 10 AM til midnight

McLaughlin's Irish Pub - don't like irish pubs but just in case its open 5 til 1 AM

Zur Uel on Ratinger Street. Loud music, decent food and not too pricey

Stone Club - Ratinger. Indie club? Pics of the who and the smiths in there. Only open Wesneday - 9 til 3

Pretty Vacant in altstatd - open Tuesday and wednesday til 3.
Bier:
Pilsner Urquell, Rothaus, Carlsberg, Frankenheim Alt... Fl. 0,33l = 2,80
Longdrinks:
Wodka-Lemon, Bombay Gin-Tonic, Bacardi-Kola... Gl. 0,2l/4cl = 6,60
Wodka-Red Bull Gl. 0,3l = 6,80 - Gl. 0,2l Sekt/Prosecco = 3,40

The Red Lounge on the corner of the altstadt

Zum Schiffchen - good place to eat, but not cheap beer

Mate, these are the pubs in Düsseldorf ;-))...
There is an Irish Pub (run be a greek guy) just on the right side of MCD...good footie pub...[/quote]

Ahh, yea I know. Realised I put dortmund on the top as I'd split my notes into two sections - amsterdam and dortmund. As most won't be going to amsterdam I took that bit off but forgot to change the dortmund to dusseldorf. Just putting it on here as a lot of blues are staying in dusseldorf, I haven't looked into dortmund as I'm only going on the day and will probably just meet my mates and follow the crowd mostly, unless there's anywhere in particular you can recommend?

Well, like I said before. On match day there is the Christmas market, welcome Party and a lot of Pubs which are open just poop into them ;-). Most important you will find lots of drinking areas around, outside of them stadium. That's where you really should go before the game.

For hanging out during the week Düsseldorf is not bad, but keep in mind not to have an hangover for match day ;-). I would take it easy and on match day I would start early in Dortmund after a good breakfast.

Re: AW: dortmund whos going?

Hey black-yellow,

can you tell me where the welcome party will be located? For me its almost a home match, as I live in Gelsenkirchen. Can't wait for the match and the fantastic Christmas market. Will be a good day out.

Blue-white greetings

What is this welcome party you speak of?

Hi,
there was one for the game against Ajax
<a class="postlink" href="http://www.lokalkompass.de/dortmund-city/sport/welkom-party-friedliche-fussballfans-stimmen-sich-ein-d210998.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.lokalkompass.de/dortmund-cit ... 10998.html</a>
against Real there was none. So I hope there will be one against City. Problem seems to be that also the christmas market is at the same time. I'll keep you updated on this one.

Cheers

Anyone know if many tickets left for this?

I ordered my Dortmund ticket today and only have 2,000+ points and not on European Cup scheme. Yesterday ticket office told me it was close to being sold out, but seen several fans plan on returning tickets ! Web site info on criteria was not correct

If we beat RM, but need Ajax to get a result at RM, is there an English speaking radio station that I'll be be able to follow that game on in Dortmond?

don´t know, if BFBS is still on air, like in those days, when Great Britain had their soldiers in Dortmund (and if they have football)

Me and son thanks to squishy lower for ticket assistance.nice to meet you and hope you enjoyed your pint! Cheers. John
