A squad place a five year contract, and a transfer fee is a lot just stay in the top 4 or 5 , especially if it makes it harder to find a place in the squad for the players we really want to get in the summer.
As it is think we’ll finish top 4 even if we don’t get him on loan.

That’s the whole point of buying a player that can play as an 8 which we may have to wait until the summer for as well as covering at 6. Luiz isn’t that player.
More to the point why on earth would Luiz want to be used lime that.

City are not assured to make an addition in this position in this window but it is a possibility if the deal is right for them.

I’m sorry bud, but can’t engage with anyone who thinks we don’t need a central midfield addition. One decent victory against cannon fodder on Saturday isn’t deluding me that all is rosy in the garden.
 
Why is it, some people think Rodri is the only player on the planet who is guaranteed their place when fit and so doesn't need a replacement? Every top club has guaranteed starters when available, none of them refuse to bring in alternatives Their fans aren't thinking they don't need cover, it's such a weird and completely baffling mindset.

Even ignoring the fact his ACL injury might not see him returning to the same level and certainly won't see him doing so instantly or be able to play the number of games he once did we need an extra option there the last few months have proven we have nobody capable if it isn't Rodri.

Luiz on loan makes the most sense, said as much in December, if thats the route we go down i won't be unhappy. why wasn't this done 2 weeks ago though? Should have been the top priority and a matter of urgency. Whoever we bring in could and should have had a week or so to settle, train with the team and pep and been ready to go for a big game against Chelsea this weekend having been eased in over the last week before going into a brutal fixture schedule.

Nobody said we didn’t need one, what I said was if we can’t get one then unless it’s a loan with no obligation we won’t leave ourselves buying a player for next season we don’t need.
If there is no obligation then Luiz will do for the rest of the season.

We know why it wasn’t done 2 weeks ago ,because they wanted an obligation to buy. If that’s gone all well and good.

Of course we want him on loan, I’ve posted about that earlier that it’s an absolute no brainer.

I was just being facetious that god forbid hypothetically we did have to take him with an obligation to buy then £35mil for a player if he gets us top 4/5 is nothing. It’s not like he becomes worthless over night, he was valued at circa £60mil last summer.

If it’s Luiz or nothing, do Luiz. But it is far from ideal and he won’t make a massive difference in terms of moving the needle. I do think there is still a decent chance we don’t sign a midfielder.

City want no commitment long term with Luiz though which is why I don’t think it’ll happen.

It’s likely that Kovacic and Bernardo remain the starting pair in midfield even if Luiz comes.

Perhaps not but Steph is no longer captain, nor part of the women's team. She is not the manager, nor a coach of the team. To my knowledge, her current role at the club doesn't include signing or choosing the team on match day.

That said, I do not think the club is currently linked with Lehmann.
