44 years ago. Christ, I'm getting old.
I'm not saying we didn't sing - "he's the leader of our team" but i don't ever remember us singing that pal. I've always been familiar with "he's the leader of Man City", and i remember that being sang from the early 70s.I don't know where the top line came from, as we all sang at the time:
We'll drink a drink a drink a drink
To Colin the king the king the king
He's the leader of our team
He's the greatest inside forward
That the world has ever seen
Almost a perfect rhyme -Team and seen.
I started it often enough. Now I can't stand up for 90 minutes. Such is life.

Definitely 'He's the leader of our team'. Obviously bastardised over the ensuing years.Definitely he's the leader of Man City
Well United's version is a Pete Boyle original so must be that version is correct.....Utd have a version for Cantona which is "leader of our Football Team"
Just for that alone I'll sing Leader of Man City
