Drink A Drink For Colin The KIng This December 26th 2021

I don't know where the top line came from, as we all sang at the time:
We'll drink a drink a drink a drink
To Colin the king the king the king
He's the leader of our team
He's the greatest inside forward
That the world has ever seen

Almost a perfect rhyme -Team and seen.
I started it often enough. Now I can't stand up for 90 minutes. Such is life.
Strange, I always thought it was, "he's the leader of man city" but I will bow to your knowledge if you sometimes started the song, I never had the nerve to start a song just joined in when it got going & probably sang the wrong words by the look of it.

I think it's evolved over the years as lot of songs do.
I still have a booklet made by Mark Bittner called "Songs of the Kippax", detailing all those songs you know so well. Unfortunately, it's in a box in my loft, and I can't climb ladders any more. It's with all my old programmes from the early 60s onwards. Mind you, most of the away programmes are minus the front page, as you needed them for your "token sheet" for big games such as cup ties. The Kippax Street season ticket book stopped this desecration.

Franny, Mike, and Colin.. All heroes growing up.. I do not know why but the King is totally in my heart.. absolutely adored him..had all the stickers and in hospital as a child, in Stretford Memorial Hospital my mum brought all comics, one with a Colin cutout.. still have it..did a hospitality thing with my kids and nephews ,and when booked, said can we meet Colin Bell please.. no answer, but went ahead. It was a shit freezing cold day against Fulham. Was sitting there with my kids and thought he will not turn up. Five minutes before KO, he walks into the lounge, straight to our table, everyone staring. I swear I was crying. Signed his book for me, took some pics and just walked off..Colin, The King, my hero, the most quiet and gentle man, cropped by a rag..always in my dreams.Am sorry, but no player since has given me such emotion.

The atmosphere when the King came on at the start of the second half was incredible, the whole ground came alive an outpoor of joy and emotion to see Colin the King once again run out onto the pitch, everyone knew the story, and this was everyones wish, the King back where he belonged. That second half was incredible everybody sang throughout, it was consistant through to the end something I like everyone else will never forget, Long live the King.
I seem to remember a rumour started during half time that Colin would be starting the second half, a buzz went round the crowd and you could feel the atmosphere building. The noise when he appeared from the tunnel was incredible.
