drink with city players

went to see city pre-season in edmunton 86.accidently we ended up in the same hotel as the players.all the players ended up on the piss with us. kenny clements and eric nixon were off it. paul power was great pissed up as well. andy hinchcliffe and clive wilson were just takin the piss out of everyone all night. paul simpson fresh faced 19 year old came in the bar and asked for a banana milk shake! and then went to bed.

memories!

Pre season tour in the eighties when we were sponsored by Philips, shared our stash with a few of the team, good job there was no drug testing but the results they got are a bit of an indication.
Mark Brennan in the Coogee Bay Hotel in Sydney,he was on his holidays and was suprised when my mate and I recognised him, bought us both a beer and said he loved his time at City but the organisation was a shambles, breaking news for everyone I'm sure.

Me and my mate bumped into Tony Coton in the Unicorn (Handforth/Bramhall) ended up having a pint with him. It turned out he lived near my folks so we ended up giving him a lift home. Top guy.

If memory serves I recall him being there on his own, a bit sad.

Got smashed with Eric Nixon here in Dubai a few years back. Not quite Mike Summerbee and George Best, I know, but he's a top bloke.

after I had played against a team managed by Sir Gerald Gow - Portland FC - in 1991 I sought him out in the bar after a game to chat about City. He was dead grumpy and called me a dirty little bastard after I had put in a few De Jongers during the game and left me stood at the bar with my lime and lemonade.
And yes he still wore the Freddy Boswell mane!

Mike Doyle....back in the early 80's. He was a mate (and fellow car dealer) of my then girlfiend's dad. Some unrepeatable stories from him after a few too....no wonder they didn't make his book, lol.

Back in the mid 70's we would all go back to Rusholme Conservative club after night matches. Paul Power used to come in for a drink and would always take time to come over and chat which was pretty good of him consdiering we were just a bunch of 17 / 18 year old kids. If I remember rightly he drove a Morris Minor at the time which just about sums up the difference in the way the game was "back in the day" !!

Shared a few pints of the black stuff with Niall Quinn when he randomly walked into the Palace nightclub in Levenshulme one Wednesday night, on his jack, after a Full members Cup game against Middlesbrough.
Sound bloke, he was amazed that anyone had bothered paying to watch 'that shit cup'
