Drinkers, what’s your routine for the PSG match? I confess I struggle to get it right for these big matches at home and this is new territory. When you’re at the game you get natural breaks in the drinking but at home it’s different. The more tension in the game, the more intensely I drink. I can open my first can at kick off and have had 7-8 by full time, more with extra time. Some big games I get too pissed, as evidenced by my sprained foot after kicking the wall when Lyon beat us.

Have any of you Old Heads got a good match day drinking routine you can talk us through which delivers the right buzz for a game like this?

Same as any other match since Covid, open beer at kick off, drink beer until its over. However I also have a shot (actually a double) everytime City Score. It gets messy if we batter someone. Have another shot at the end of the match. Also have a shot if opposition have a man sent off.

If your an old head, surely drinking 7-8 cans plays havoc with your prostate and you miss at least 20 minutes due to needing a piss!

I was in my toilet when Sergio broke the record away in the champions league that night with the at great goal. Was it Napoli? Still bugs me. Actually I’ve heard more than one go in from the pisser at the erihad too. Nasri in a derby once springs to mind. Celebrating with your old chap in your hand is something every blue has done I’m sure.

For a big home game I'd normally be in town or in a pub around the ground 2/3 hours pre-game and then a couple of hours afterwards if waiting for a lift or if back into town until I've had enough.

For TV games I'll score the Guess The Team Compy then start and finish whatever I have opened at full-time so probably 4/5 pints.

I will crack open a pint at kick off and try to maintain some sort of restraint until full time.
Unlike the first leg when I cracked open a pint at kick off (3pm here) and kept going until all the beer was gone at 10pm.
