Some people believe that Pep couldn't do Mancini's job at the time any more than Mancini could do Pep's now.Mancini's stewardship was great fun as a supporter.
A perfect 1st player in our transition from football tragedy to footballing triumph.
@Phil1 once suggested we "snap the hands of anyone who offers over 50m for Kdb now that we have signed Grealish"Grealish was bought because he was the king of pre- assists . I couldn’t believe my eyes.

It's not an opinion I agree with but I do think its an interesting conversation to have with other Blues.

" Rodri, couldn't turn in the Channel"
Won't reveal the author but Paul Merson would be proud of that one
It IS quite an interesting debate. My take would be that Pep is a brilliant coach who undoubtedly has sufficient ability to have taken the reins at City in the position that Roberto Mancini found us and, with the same backing that the the Italian was given, match what we actually achieved in those years, i.e. qualifying three successive times for the CL group stages, ending the 35-year trophy drought and claiming that first league title in a couple of generations.
However, it's probably moot. I don't think Pep would even have looked twice at a proposal to join City when the club was at the stage where we were when Mark Hughes left. Roberto, on the other hand, did and clearly relished the challenge. They were both perfect for what we needed when we hired them and I love them both for that.
Personal choice but Pep has revolutionised the club and football in general. What people don't remember is Bobby Manc and Pellers both used the long ball tactics at times bypassing some of the greatest midfielders we'd ever seen at City.
