Duncan Castles

I watched our game on Virgin Media One here in Ireland and Mick McCarthy and George Hamilton were tearing into the pink boots and going very old school in their comments. very close to getting in to trouble with the comments.

I didn't see what Castles said?

Personally, I hate the idea of trying to push pink out their politically in sports.I also hate poppies, minutes silences etc before anyone think it's a homophobic stance(it's not), but sport should not be used as a platform for trendy campaigns IMO.

It was regarding Laporte"s attire
Something along the lines of "so Laporte wearing an orange and purple kit decides to wear his fetching aubergine boots. What a hard defender"

Cheers, I thought I was in the custis thread. I should have said "What has the talking cock said"?
Pretty ironic, him talking about hard defenders. He looks like he wouldn't last 2 mins with my little sister.

No ones "pushing" anything but consumerism with those pink boots, it's just Adidas' latest colour scheme.

They come out with 4 or 5 different schemes a season and every single player who Adidas sponsor will wear those boots in that colour scheme. It's purely a fashion thing and a way to sell more boots.

Laporte, Gundogan, Pogba, Matic, dozens of them will wear it for 6 weeks and then they'll get sent a dozen pairs of the next colour to wear.

So why don’t City players wear turquoise ones?

So why don’t City players wear turquoise ones?

They're all different types of boot.

So the turquoise ones are the Copa boot, white is the AdidasX, which is really light and aimed at forwards (Jesus wears 'em), Grey is the Nemeziz - allegedly for control - and Pink is the Predators, and the marketing around that is to do with power, and that's one reason why a lot of defenders wear them.

So you choose a type of boot based on which you like playing in, and then they send you the newest colour of that boot every 2 months or so.
