Dundee school obtain tickets for Liverpool game

What has amazed me is the difference between City fans and Newcastle fans.
When it was exposed what the club were doing, the Geordies were up in arms whereas us, certainly on here, are in the majority, defending it.

We have even had a post defending the club by saying they shit all over loyal fans in 1969 so why are we complaining!
No wonder we get fucked over. Even when the 1984 (and others) achieve something they are derided on here.
If we can't stand together we've. No chance.
Point taken mate but City fans did lead the way with protests last season. We’ve never been great at organising ourselves as a fan base -too many independent groups and voices- but when we pull together we are as strong as anyone.

The problem is that with all the noise we made we are still seemingly going one step forward and two steps back. It's a tough ask when the people you are fighting don't give a fuck and the people you are actually fighting for are that fractured there isn't any cohesion or social glue that binds them together.

If this is true, which I'm still not sure about, so let's give City the benefit of our doubt ATM, City have once again refused to comment and confirm anything, whilst Newcastle came out in public, cancelled the tickets, and sold the tickets to Newcastle fans.

Allegedly Newcastle were involved in the ticket sales to the Dundee School and only backtracked when they got found out.

If nothing else it shows the murky dealings between clubs and ticket touting agencies and official ticket touting partners, whilst the PL clubs are clamping down on face value tickets sales between fans, and bringing in more draconian ticket re-sale and season ticket rules.

The club are transparent they do these type of bookings. There is no one else involved, and we have had coach trips since we were at the stadium. It is a non-story.

The Newcastle one is a bit confusing due to information coming out piecemeal but is it not the case that their club sold a block of STs years ago (whether knowingly or not) to what turned out to be a tout site? I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, perhaps someone jumped the gun with the initial announcement as nobody actually knew what was going on?

People keep trying to conflate that to ours where we have a group booking system on our website and have done for years, there really is no comparison. I said it earlier, this thread is simply rage bait and as usual, people have bitten before considering what little facts have come out.

I was at an event last night and David White was the main speaker....I take it that you know about his and Paul Stewart and there experiences with BB .....
Your comment..not funny
I’ve read both their books. Very harrowing.
But I believe my comment to be humorous, as dark as the subject matter may be.

Pisses me off something rotten. I work in schools in Manchester and some of the kids I work with who live so close to the Etihad have never been. I tried contacting the club to arrange some free tickets for the young lads I work with but no response. Many of them are working class boys from around East Manchester and could never dream of actually attending the stadium. The club put all their energy into the wrong fans sometimes I swear. They could have a big impact on the kids in the local area if these kinds of initiatives were rolled out in Manchester. Why don't the Dundee kids go and watch say... A Dundee game for example? Wouldn't be rocket science. Or maybe Celtic in a European game for a bigger occasion. Beggars belief honestly. Instead of these games the Manchester kids get Wednesday night Vs whoever in the league cup or the 3rd round of the fa cup. If they're lucky!

I have no strong views either way. However, I wonder if the reverse trip exists kids from schools like yours to say Rangers or Celtic ?

I don't want to get into an argument over this, and I wholeheartedly agree that the tickets should be going to "better use" (not given to any fuckin 3rd party)
The document attached though says it's a "tour operator" doesn't it?? Once those tickets have gone out from the club via a "partnership" there's no control where they end up.
This is rife across Spanish clubs, and it's now a huge problem for UK clubs
It'll be the same tour operator that arranged their Newcastle trip which was cancelled due to supporter pushback.
Still begs the question of how these parasites get tickets in the first place.

They get them officially via the City group booking system. My non local school have been to 2 champions league matches this way.

You do understand that the Dundee school applied for and paid for their tickets via Man City's own website. Any school or other group can actually do the same, I suspect it's not cheap as it includes all sorts. If you're meaning the club could give free tickets to local schools then I believe they do (probably via CITC), which is presumably the cup games you're referring to.

Newcastle had fans that would pay the official asking price to watch a game v Barcelona. would those fans have turned up against Bodo/Glimt or Leipzig? - And do City have loads of fans waiting to pay silly high prices for games, even against Liverpool?

I didn’t know about that.(likes given)

I haven’t seen that page before.

OK, that’s fair enough.

But as other posters have pointed out, we have City fans who are desperate for tickets and can’t get tickets for the big games.(Liverpool, etc)

City fans should come first and foremost for tickets for big games, not pupils at a school in Dundee.

Yes, some of the kids will be City fans, but the majority of those kids won’t be City fans, especially being from Dundee.

Yes, they would. Newcastle will sell out all their CL games regardless of who the opposition is.

Liverpool will sell out.
