Dunne - Probably the worst defender in the league

Why should loyalty play a part?

Dunne gets paid to do a job, same as I do and most others do, if I do a shit job I face getting the sack. Why should a footballer be able to put in a shit performance week after week but say 'Hey dont have a go at me, I had a good game against Liverpool 2 years ago, show some fucking loyalty'?

Ive said it before but if you want to see how a top class centre back performs you would go and watch Vidic or Terry, nobody would go to watch Captain fucking Calamity!

If that's the way you feel....Football really has died hasn't it.

You're right. This abuse towards Dunne is disgraceful.

"Best fans in the world."

Credit were credits due. He is the best in the Prem at marking space. I have lost count of the times that we see Dunny with the ball passing over him and him turning and running after his opponent, ususally to late to prevent a goal. Recent example Tevez in the derby.
It is a true statistic that he concedes more corners than any defender in the Prem, most of which can be avoided but he seems to enjoy defending corners which is amazing as he and his co defenders are so poor at defending them!
Not being unkind but his level is at clubs like Stoke, Hull, West Brom, and Sunderland, not at a team that aspires to be at the top end of the table. We will never get there with players of Dunnes "quality" in our defence.

In addition to the stats provided by Widnes blue, isn't it also true that in premier league history, he has the records for most red cards AND most own goals? I'm pretty sure that was covered on MOTD after one of his tricks earlier this season..

He means a lot to the club, but I do not think he is the guy to take us to the next level..sorry.

Im disgusted that fellow City fans can sit there and type in such disgraceful comments about Richard Dunne after all he as given in a City shirt,he sweated blood for the team and been named player of the season on numerous occasions.Maybe hes not the player he was but its outrageous to slag him of after all hes done in a City shirt.

Its not a case of slagging him off. True he did a sterling job for where we where in the lower reaches of the Prem and the Championship. But now that we aspire to be a top team then sorry but there is no room for sentiment if you want to get to the top. He, and others will have to go. How do you think the likes of Manyoo, Arsenal, Liverpool & Chelsea remain at the top? They dont hesitate in getting rid of players who do not have the required quality to cut it at the top. They are swiftly moved on without a seconds thought and thats the way it has to be.

So when he costs us more games like he has this season you'll be rushing to pat him on the back and be praising him because "he had a good season 3 years ago"

Yes I agree with you that he's not the player he was a few years ago.But I think its bad some of the vile abuse aimed at him.

let's just thank the dunneymonster for his services and hope to get a top quality CB to work with ned.
i think it's childish, humourless and most of all rag-ish to be slating him as some of you have, yes now we have money, what about when we were skint? was he not rumoured to be going to pompey/spuds did he? no he stuck with us and this is how we repay him,by slating his every mistake?

all those on here who has never made a mistake in life please feel free to make yourself known!

btw (i went 21 fights unbeaten as an amateur boxer, my 22nd was a lad i'd beaten twice before and the night before the fight went on the piss/sniff with my mates cousin and stayed up all night shagging her! needless to say i was stopped in 48 seconds!) my actions cost the club funding from the government as my trainer got repremanded for not monitoring me more closely. 15 years have passed and my son now attends the same club as a 13 year old and every time i pop down i still get treated like an old friend!

shame on you! dunney should always get the respect from us he deserves!

Well said Alextrueblue.Bloody disgraceful way some people abuse Dunne.Maybe he could be past his best. But he gave everything for the blue shirt.

Stupid thread. There is no way Dunne is the worst defender in the prem. Can't be arsed trawling through 6 pages, but I would imagine that Titus Bramble has probably got a mention already.

Basically your calling city fans idiots who voted 4 times player of the year. Dunne is very much like Garragher at Liverpool who puts his foot in where it hurts and he will get own goals because no other players do that.

Fact: Distin looked good with who Dunne
Fact: Nedum looked good with who Dunne
Fact: Richards had a crap season and who had to cover him Dunne, remember Richards at the Hamburg game faking an injury worst defender your having a laugh.

say no more he is awful and he needs to leave

You disrespectful twat. He has been loyal to our club for years and has been voted player of the season for the past 4 years before this one. The guy is a legend to manchester city football club in my eyes. Yes he has lost his touch a little but he is still a good player and put's in good tackles and is a good defender. There is definitely crapper defenders than him in this league by a mile. Sorry but just try encouraging our players instead of dissing them.

This guy probably just wanted a reaction, clearly Richard Dunne is worse than players such as Andy Griffin and Liam Ridgewell, not.
