Dunne

exactly... sighs* captains should set an example and boost the morale of the team. Getting sent off has the inverse effect. He fouled once - He fouled twice yelllow card he fouled 3 times - ref said its been 3 times 1 more your off- he fouls again red card... How did we all here know he was gunna do somethin stupid and get carded.

End of the day- Dunne though player of the year quite a few times is not a player of our future aspirations. He aint quick enough, his too old and he aint gettting any younger. Mind you im not being irrational putting blame on Dunne as ive had this attitude of him for a long time over past posts

So because suddenly the club has a lot of money, suddenly the captain and player of the year for countless seasons, means nothing?
He's having a bad season, it happens to everyone. That doesn't mean that we should ship every player who's having a bad run out the door because suddenly financially, we can.
What ever happened to loyalty? Doesn't that mean anything anymore. You know I get it, football has become more competitive and more money is needed but since when was it ok for football to be a business and for players despite years of loyalty and top class service to get treated like merchandise.
But suddenly what, because we have money now means that we loose our values, our pride? Because that's what it means, because one minute it's for the badge, for the jersey, then the next we're shipping players in and out like there's no tomorrow.
When did it happen that loyalty meant so little and club pride meant even less.

Now maybe I'm old fashioned, now maybe because my own sports are based purely on the amateur basis. But I'm sorry, I think somewhere along the line that actually remember what this is all about.

Dunne has shown us years of loyalty, he has done it for us time and time again, as our captain, and just because he's had a bad season doesn't mean that we should ship him out because suddenly our aspirations as a club are higher then they were last year.

We want players to show pride and passion for the jersey, for the badge, but surely it most work the other way. No one is more Man City then Dunne, no one. Selling him and replacing him with some over paid, over rated defender will be a mistake.
Give the lad a break, he's done nothing but years of truely great service and should be given a chance to get it back. We owe him that at least.

Great post from your point of view..he has been a great servant. Thats part of the problem...we all have such high expectations of him. And in essence, we all feel really let down. To have an entire bad season is very unusual..players usually experience maybe a bad half a season, or a few months, but no-one can deny he`s pretty much been poor for a whole season.
What I do hope is that he does show the pride we all know he has, and come the end of season, does loads of speed, positional, and maybe training to try and be `calmer' at times, so that he can come back at the start of next season completely reborn like Ireland has done season.

Thats fine then so no matter how bad someone is playing just carry on playing them no matter what. Any club who does this would be mad, people like wenger and baconface are great at knowing when a player is past his best. We know that dunne has been a good servant for city but dont forget he has been rewarded well for this, it's the nature of proffesional sport that you are judged on performance and results. If he plays less or even if he is sold in ther summer he is hardly going to be sleeping rough under a brdige with a bottle of meths. If we want to become a winning team harsh decisions have to be made, players leave clubs all the time, i'm sure the owners didnt buy the club as a retirement home for loyal players.

Iv'e stuck up for Dunne all season, but now I think he's proven he's not good enough. He was a good player in a bad team and it now shows.

Also, Richards isn't as good as I first thought. His first touch is shocking and totally unacceptable IMO. Dont get me wrong, I think he ''can'' come good, but he's not there yet, not by a long shot.

Dunne was - WAS - a great servant to the club. But his day has come and gone. Time to move on, I'm afraid.
Richards is disappointing.
I'd love us to buy Glen Johnson.

Agree 100%

Richards is not playing today so what peoples excuse for Dunne being shit today ?

Funny how you keep missing the common denominator, a manager who tells the players how and where to play.

Its not Hughes fault that Richards is missing because he`s to far up the pitch?, what on earth makes you think a player could get away with being out of possition for so long without the manager pulling him up............unless its to orders?.

Dunne is just the latest target because of the tactic being played under orders from Hughes, Big Phil is slagged off because he`s not winning high balls.........but who tell the players to bang high ones in towards him?, put him in on the floor and he can hold it all day, I and most other supporters know that, but not Hughes.

Dunne is not just playing poorly, he`s being expossed by a mumpty manager without a clue.

No, if a player is in bad form then don't play him. But there's no need to ship him out either. I just think that ye are jumping the gun, just because we have money doesn't mean we should have to sell.
