Dunne

Dunne made a stupid mistake, he played well in the second half, he made a stupid mistake, but if one of the many chances we had were burried we wouldn't be pointing fingers.

He made a mistake, a stupid one at that, but no one knows the price of it more then Dunne himself. He's done enough for City in the past to be given a second chance.

On another note when Dunne was sent off, Given commanded well from the back, especially when Dunne was sent off. Which is good to see. Was hoping he'd score at the end, he's a decent outfield player, they should have passed him the ball, he wasn't marked at the edge of the area. Lol.

Sorry dont know how to do quotes...

Thats why hes been City's player of the year, for countless number of years !

We got beat last week, end of. We did enuf to win a second leg tonite. Some of them acheieved near city legend some of themm were sit .... typical city

BUT WHO GIVES A FUCK ?????

We're blue we're white. we're fucin dinamite. City, City the best team in the land an all the world !

alot of what dunne did wrong tonight is because he was covering for richards, who has no positional sence whatsoever. but dunne has been awful this season. both are being carried by the rest of the defence and shay. both are a liability. dunnes city career, as we all know is at an end and he will be offloaded in the summer and richards will be lucky if we dont go out and buy a class full back in the summer to replace him or put zab back in there. frustrating that poor defending again has cost us big.

also our captain should not be getting sent off, in 1 season, what is it 3 or 4 times now?? unless he is keane or vieira!!

I'd echo that - he's cost us more goals and ultimately matches than any other player this season. Yes he gets the odd good last ditch tackle in but so often this season he's been in the wrong place at the wrong time or hacked too many forwards down giving them free kicks in scoring positions - that is of couse when he's not scoring them in our goal himself

exactly... sighs* captains should set an example and boost the morale of the team. Getting sent off has the inverse effect. He fouled once - He fouled twice yelllow card he fouled 3 times - ref said its been 3 times 1 more your off- he fouls again red card... How did we all here know he was gunna do somethin stupid and get carded.

End of the day- Dunne though player of the year quite a few times is not a player of our future aspirations. He aint quick enough, his too old and he aint gettting any younger. Mind you im not being irrational putting blame on Dunne as ive had this attitude of him for a long time over past posts

Its already been pointed out that Dunnie has been our player of the year countless times, is a full international, and up untill we got stuck with the clueless one, part of one of the tightest defences in the premier along with Micha...........now both are under attack for following orders of a manager who does not know what he`s doing!.

Richards does not loiter up the pitch off his own bat, and I doubt he is stupid enough to think he can go back with a winger and keep up, never mind get a tackle in from the side.

Dunne is a centeral defender, strong and powerful in and around the box, what he is not is a right full back, and certainly not able to do both jobs at the same time, because when he gets dragged over to cover the missing right back the whole defence has to come across resulting in us being wide open for the far post ball, and a central defender up against a winger means free kicks and bookings for the simple reason the winger has far more pace.

Now this is basic stuff, any teacher running a schoolboy team knows this, most of the supporters on thursday knew before half time Dunne was going off because the winger was getting a free run at him everytime they got the ball.......................so why did the numpty we pay a great deal of money to, or his coaching staff not see, and act accordingly.

Stop blaming the players for Hughes, stop slagging the team off because Hughes has them playing a system that can not work, or put in players half fit because his judgement on players is so poor he can not make his mind up who in the reserves could step up.

You shouldnt have to take a player off everytime he gets a yellow card you would need five subs a game.

Dunne is not a kid, it's hardly rocket science that if you have a yellow card you have to be careful and not take out an opponent in the most important game for ages, if we want to progress as a club we cant keep making excuses for players. He has made too many mistakes this year and cost us too many points. The fact that he has been player of the year is irrelevant, on form he and richards should be dropped. It doesnt mean the end of their career's at city.

And to blame the manager for richards getting forward and then not getting back is laughable, do you really believe the manager told him this?????

If you think a manager isnt good enough then fair play(bad signings, bad tactics, poor subs)
but you cannot blame him for basic individual errors of players who should know better. some of dunnes decision making this year have been embarrasing and the annoying thing is he doesnt seem to learn.

I`m sorry but blaming Hughes for Dunne`s mistakes is ridiculous.

From one of the Earliest matches of the season an error by Dunne cost us the match; FC Midgetland first leg; passed them the ball to score... He`s been that way since.
The one error you can throw at Hughes with regards to Dunne is not pressurising him enough with regards to getting a replacement; but if maost reports are to be belived Hughes did try and buy Toure from Arsenal.
At the moment I`m completely on the fence with regards to Hughes but I do fear for Dunne. Richards can be forgiven errors as he has youth on his side, but the countless times Dunne has cost us this season is unbelievable and belies not only his status as captain, but his experience also..

examples:

-FC Midjetland first leg
-Error against Spurs theat lead to their first goal
-Newcastle match (best volley ever own goal)
-Numerous sendings off
-Error in Fulham match

I know everyone makes errors but his are so costly its scary. That, coupled with the fact that he gets sent off so much just seem to me to make him a liability.
I want to remember Dunne as the player who he was a couple of seasons back, especially for the first half of the 07/08 season...NOT the player he has seemingly become.

it makes me wonder actually how our performances were for the 4 matches he was out after his pointless sending off against Wigan...anyone know?
