Villa have agreed a £6million fee with Manchester City for their skipper Richard Dunne.
Villa manager, Martin O’Neill, has moved swiftly to head off interest from Sunderland and Everton in Dunne whose nine-year City career looks to be drawing to a close following the arrival of Joleon Lescott in a £24m deal.
Dunne, 29, has spoken of his desire to stay at City but with Lescott joining Kolo Toure at Eastlands is likely to find his first team opportunities limited this season.

We want two for each position he is still club captain it makes no sense to me

It was always odds on that Gareth will be the new captain, we have micah and nedum who can back up in centre defence.

and kompany.

God i hope so, as it was only a few days ago he said he didn't want to go anywhere. I would hate to think he has been forced out.

Villa is a good club for him though and he'll do well with Martin O'Neill, he's too good for Sunderland and Stoke.
