OK, almost everybody...why do you think everybody feels that way about Vlahovic? Actually most respected football people around Europe feel quite the opposite...
I answered your question about Dias, now you’re asking me what people all over Europe think about Vlahovic, how the fuck would I know, I am a dead former chairman

A bloke 99.99% of us hadn't heard of 2 months ago is now seen as the best £70m can buy.
I feel privileged to be in the 0.01%

That's kinda just how football goes sometimes. One season between being a no-body and a superstar.
Especially as a young centre forward.
Kane was worthless one minute and England star the next.
Rashford was a so-so youth team player and months later he was being valued at £100M.
Mbappé had a much maligned €40M bid from City rejected, next year he cost €160M.

Having said that he may not be the best €70M could buy, he's just the most (or one of the most) visibly available atm.

OK, I won't ask you any more questions...wtf???

It really all depends...everyone was saying we were pissing away 60+ mil last year on Dias...

Dias was a name that's be knocking around for years though, despite being relatively young still. He had been on the radar of top clubs for a while and was a key player in a champions league /international side. Vlahovic is a much more unknown quantity.

Not really the point I was making though - I'm sure Vlahovic is incredibly talented and would bang them in for us. If the club go for him they will obviously have a reason to, it's more the fact that I think Delap has the potential to be an elite level talent and do just the same, but needs the gametime now to actually develop and show it.

Strikers burst onto the scene so quickly, they just need the opportunity to play and I would rather us take a gamble on one of our own, rather than make a £70m gamble on a slightly older player that's only got one season of evidence (so far) - also blocking Delap's short/medium term path in the process.

Well, I’m in that tiny percentage who watched him multiple times last season and cannot believe we’d go for him. Nothing against the lad but just not for us.

I understand your perspective.

I quite like the look of the lad. I’d like us to have a lanky striker again, we’ve not had one of those since Dzeko and I miss ‘em, but I have concerns about his ball retention because his passing stats are not so good to say the least.
Also, judging only from his youtube highlights (you’ve seen full games so you’ll know better and please interject if I’m wide of the mark), he seems to only perform in counter attacks or in open or loose play. Nothing shows him slipping effortlessly through a low block to slot home and, if he plays for us, he’ll face a low block most of the time.

Those are the reasons that I don’t think we’ll go for him. However, if we do put a bid in then it’s because Pep thinks he can get a tune out of the lad and, that being the case, I’ll be excited at the prospect.

Delap would be great if he can get a run of games - which he can't.
There's a reason why players like Sancho goto other clubs, get game time and end up as world beaters.
Get Delap, put faith in him and play him consistently; that's what Athletico and Dortmund make there business.
