Dynamo Kiev - Post Match Thread

His 'great game management' has fucked us for the derby. Having slept on it I've woken up even more pissed off about the team selection than I was last night.
I'm not even referring to the team selection, and whether Kompany should have started 6 games in a row or if Aguero and Silva should have played. Just simply doing the absolute bare minimum and not losing is now known as game management.

Haha! It's hardly fucking Fifa is it? I'd have chose a different team to the one our manager did. That doesn't make me an expert it makes me a supporter with an opinion. As it turns out I've got good reason to throw my toys because the tripe our gaffer served up as left us in serious trouble against Utd at the weekend and the performance from those who played wasn't very good.
Not sure why you think somebody believes their a top coach for thinking this but then you're a bit of a strange one.

The tripe as you put it has our club in the 1/4 finals of the CL for the first time in its history, yet you come across as not being pleased about that. With history for our club being made last night, do you think Vinnie would not want to be a part of that?

The onus was on Kiev last night for them to come out and play, we had done the hard miles a couple of weeks back so had no need to chase the game

His injury was just a matter of time and it was unfortunate it that time was last night.

That would make around 50,000 right hand men that Pep has got to deal with then because there wasn't many I spoke to who thought it was the correct team. You stick to having your hands covering your eyes and putting your fingers in your ears whilst taking your happy pills.

what amazes me , is the fact you continuously speak for 50,000 supporters on this forum , if you were at the match , did you take your clipboard around the stadium and ask the crowd ? perhaps you can let us have the results of the survey you based this opinion on , you are entitled like anyone on this forum to an opinion , but please refrain from speaking for every , living /breathing Manchester City supporter , you do not. Perhaps you should show a modicum of respect to other posters opinions , you may have this warped idea that you know better than everyone else , including the MCFC management , but again you simply do not , FIFA 16 is'nt real you know. The disappointing thing is you do occasionally make valid comments , but your arrogance is distasteful

We are talking about Mangala a £42,000,000 centre half, Sterling - the £50,000,000 winger and arguably one of our best players in Europe this season, and Iheanacho, the player who scored a hattrick on his last start. It's not a case of League 2 cast offs - these are able footballers.

i was more pissed off we didnt give game time to nacho, it was the idea game against poor opposition to give the lad a chance,

Were praising the club reaching the 1/4 finals of the CL for the first time in its history. What is your issue with fans appreciating that?
I think you've missed my point? I'm not commenting on the achievement, but are standards these days really so low that scraping a 0-0 draw at home to a shit team and boring the life out of everyone is great 'game management'.

We had pretty much a free hit last night to practice putting in a solid, good Champions League performance to gain some momentum and confidence going in to the quarters (and also into the derby), yet completely fluffed it.

Where is the ambition if we all accept last night as the benchmark of a good European performance?

I'd have rested Silva and played Sterling. One gets a much needed rest and one gets much needed confidence. I'd have rested Kompany who was playing his 6th game in 20 days and started either Mangala or Demichelis, doesn't really matter as Kiev were never going to worry us too much. That's what I'd have done, that's my opinion and sorry if it doesn't tally with your own.
If he'd started last night with a back 4 of Zab, MDM, Mangala and Kolarov as well as no Silva, Toure or Aguero, been 2 down after 25 minutes and gone on to lose 2-4 exiting the competition, would you really have been on here saying; "well done Manuel, at least all our players are available for Sunday"? I suspect not.

i agree on mangala for kompany, as its obvious 2 games in a week for vinnie is too much for him now, but its all about opinions of course and the manager wanted his best(in his mind) team on the pitch
Sterling was MOTM in the last leg. Fact.

I don't play computer games so all these references to Fifa are over my head I'm afraid. I read the prematch thread on here where many were saying they'd have played a different team, plenty I spoke to at the ground thought the same so whilst I'm not talking for the whole fanbase, I'm confident I'm on the same wave length as many others.
The rest of your post is gibberish - hope that's not too arrogant for you.

People slagging off Pellegrini for yesterday's starting eleven... I can't wait to log on to Bluemoon when Pep will start his usual experimental stuff and play, let's say, KdB as CM or Clichy as CB. :)

It's all hyperthetica isn't it? There's no way of knowing the outcome of how the team I thought should play actually would. There is though plenty of evidence that the one our boss chose didn't play well and left us in a quandary for an important Derby on Sunday.
Football eh?

I thought that, selection aside, as far as attitude went, the OC got it right last night by being a bit more cautious & not leaving the door wide open to the opposition.

But I found it profoundly disturbing that some of our key players look so far off it. Kompany of course. But I'm concerned for one, that Fernandinho after his superhuman efforts playing fullback, centre mid & winger all in one, in the Cup Final etc, may have been 'DeBruyned' & be totally shagged out. He was most certainly a yard behind his best (could have been cruising of course).

Then there is Silva. He was tracking back, tackling, pressing, but as a footballer for the most part, absolutely fucking terrible. One footed, slow, missing passes, ruining breakaways with lack of vision, overhitting balls. Just a really poor standard. Nigel DeJong could have done pretty much anything DS did in that game. He looks shot for whatever reason. Navas did a fair impression of Craig Russell. Serge was absolutely great but his finishing was like Darius Vassell. We were so mid table going forward, apart from Yaya who turned back the clock & stood out as the only player with even a hint of creativity in him. He used to be one of many & that was at his best too. That's how far we have sunk.

At the back, after looking completely comfortable bar our own mistakes, suddenly Kiev were putting in crosses, beating the 'offside' & getting 3,4 men in front of Joe Hart, unmarked.

Hopefully all these players will find their edge & raise it for the derby, otherwise even the rags will fucking slaughter us, especially if they score first.

pablo 1 possibly feels like me, that we are staggering from one game to another without any kind of form, i`m worried that we wont get into the top for which could have its own repercussions on player recruitment,

we are all happy we have made history and got through to the last 8 it was a hurdle we needed to jump but that doesnt blind me to our obvious loss of form and the goals drying up.

No, its just the norm for you .

Exactly - no need to chase the game, opposition have to score 3 and are still a couple of yards short after not long coming back from a winter break.
We did the hard miles so think ahead to Sunday. You disagree that's your prerogative but it won't stop me from thinking different.

The linesmen both had checkered flags instead of one having one with checks and one having a plain one. That was weird.

I'm of an age where it shouldn't bother me as much as it does! I get the disappointment many people are having this season (and last), but my expectancy level is obviously much lower than lots of other posters. Not only that, but I don't really enjoy any criticism of City (don't care if it's Rio, Owen, people in the pub or posters on here) and have and feel I have to defend them to all and sundry. It is a hangover from when we were properly shit, not just a bit shit like we are at the minute. Don't get me wrong, I can moan as much as anyone at the game, but afterwards I try to look for the positives wherever I can. Like I said, it's probably just a hangover from the really crap teams I've watched.
But you're right, football eh?

Job done and on to the next game, some people on here are never happy, not the greatest performance but we are the only English club through, would you rather we copped for another difficult group to get through then moan your fucking Arse off when we get knocked out.some fans have very short memories and make me fucking sick the whinging bastards, I've followed city since 1965 and seen some proper shite players, grab the moment and enjoy cos it won't last.

Listened to Townsend and Miss Dalglish rattling out negatives on Radio in the car, got home and looked on here to see so called City fans running City down even more, especially those who claim to to be Superfans and yet had been posting since just after the match finished. Either they live next to the ground or watched their points collections and bits of the match from their armchairs.

Even talkshite was (reluctantly) praising us as the the first and probably only English club to get through this season which is more than our 'whinging bastards' have done on here.

They must be loving this on Rag Cafe, ideal for them in the run up to the derby.

Nothing wrong with any of that mate. I'm loath to hear critiscm from anyone outside City, I can't watch BT, Sky or read the tabloids. The only interaction I get with other blues (who are not mates etc) is on here and if I can't vent on here then when can I? That's all it is by the way - just venting frustrations on what has become a long drawn out couple of years with a manager who's a sitting duck. That's not to say I won't be booking flights as soon as the draw is made for the next round or I won't be taking my seat up on Sunday.
I'm just passing the weeks until the new era sets in, then hopefully we'll all have something to smile about.
