Dzeko (Merged)

Re: Dzeko

Everyone yet again picks the bones of Dzeko, but like the Chelsea game i'll do a little assessment of his game at Liverpool and see what we can muster from it.

1. no service yet again, didn't receive one single cross in 92 minutes

2. held the ball up very well, caught 4 balls on his chest brilliantly, played the pass off, kept the move going.

3. skinned 2 Liverpool players around him 3 times, only to get kicked to fuck and won a free-kick.

4. always showed for the ball, dropped deep, tried to make something happen, played some top cross field balls to Johnson.

5. had a good shot on goal and actually on target, his only real chance given to him.

6. i can recall him misplacing 2 passes, not bad considering the whole team did it all night (even Silva)

7. had hopeless balls lumped to him all night, BUT...won 4-5 headers from them, balotelli NOT ONCE anticipated him winning the header when he did, that's not Dzeko's fault.

when he misses chances, gives the ball away all the time, get's plenty of service and then makes fuck all difference to our team, then your welcome to judge him and call him. but apart from that he's not really done alot wrong.

nuff said.

Re: Dzeko

Dzeko was very good in Germany and in the champions league playing for as team who knew how to get the best out of him. He is being asked to play in a system that doesn't suit him alongside players who mainly want to cut in and create chances for themselves rather than feed him crosses

However, his general play has been poor, he is taking time to get used to the pace and strength of the prem league. I hope he can improve these aspects because there have been times where there HAVE been crosses into the right areas and he has been nowhere to be seen, too easily getting outpaced/outmuscled by prem league CBs.

So as you can see, I am 50/50 on the lad, not gona slate him yet, hopefully next season we will start to see the best of him. The tactics of the team at the moment realy don't suit him I don't think.

Re: Dzeko

I'm not judging him till next year, but one thing that I get from him is; it seems he lacks urgency. I know it is hard for him with a lack of service, but he doesn't to want to bust a gut and get on the end of things or into the box and I think his movement can be better too.

But like I said, i'm willing to wait till next year before judging him.

Re: Dzeko

We won't see the best of Dzeko until next season.

It takes time for him, and the players around him to learn each other's games.

Once they have a mutual understanding, we will see the best of Dzeko.

Just look at Torres at Chelsea. At least Dzeko has scored for us. Albeit in cup competitions, but at least we can see the potential is there.

Re: Dzeko

We definitely need to give this guy a chance based on his record in Germany and the fact that he actually seems to at least care.

I can't see a future for Balotelli at the club, Tevez will probably leave in summer so we could be looking at building our attack around this fella.

I think he'd do well at a club like Spurs who play a more attacking style, all the forwards bar Tevez seem to be struggling in our system. Tevez is a rare player in that he is a one-man band who forrages and creates things out of nothing, we can't rely on that to be the basis of our attacking output.

Who could partner Dzeko though?

We need a pacey, small striker, read the flicks, anticipate them.

Dzecko will get the benefit of patience. Not many are jumping on his back yet and are prepared to give him time.

But you raise a point i have noticed aswell. He doesnt get in position fast enough. If the ball goes wide and we look like a cross is a possibility, he jogs. He should be attacking the space to be in a dangerous position.
