Roma could complete swoops for Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko and Fluminense’s Gerson on Monday for a total €41m.

Director of sport Walter Sabatini has been very active since securing Mohamed Salah, as he can do no more on that front until Chelsea and Fiorentina have worked out the legal ramifications.

He therefore plunged into negotiations with Manchester City and agreed a transfer fee for Dzeko.

Roma are offering €18m plus €5m in performance-related bonuses, while City lowered their initial asking price of €30m.

The Giallorossi had hoped to include Seydou Doumbia in the deal, but the Citizens were not remotely interested.

According to Il Tempo newspaper, both Dzeko and Gerson could be announced by tomorrow.

Creative midfielder Gerson had been due to join Barcelona, but Roma matched their €18m offer and the Blaugrana are not prepared to raise the bid further.

This would only ensure purchase of 70 per cent of the 18-year-old’s contract, as he is also owned by various funds.

The Giallorossi aim to send Marquinho to Fluminense in part-exchange, although he is negotiating for a loan spell at Udinese first.

That must be bollocks, unless Roma are clueless, why would we take none HG players that we haven't actually targetted, just so that they can get the player they want ? Such a pity we have to deal with Italian clubs at all, they just take the piss.

Such a pity we have to deal with Italian clubs at all, they just take the piss.

They do mate, but it costs them in the end. That's why their league has declined so much in a generation, Juventus excepted.

Fair point but one mans taking the piss is anothers getting the best possible deal. If they can it would be negligent not to.

I'm sure they'll also be talking about a £13 million loss over five and a half years, which is much worse than £16 million over eleven months.
