It is all a load of bollox. I smoke. I drink. I curse and shout and stand up. I'll have my few pints before a match, nip off for a smoke in the jacks at half time. If I get caught I get thrown out.. doesn't bother me.. I'll go watch the second half in the pub. and smoke and drink and curse.

A lot of lads have a crafty smoke in the bogs at half at City games. They aren't going to stop it. When you are half pissed it is impossible not to smoke, non smokers will never understand this.

This habit of sidetracking onto the alcohol route is totally fallacious. Almost everyone who smokes is addicted whereas alcoholism only strikes a tiny minority of drinkers . -

That's not really the point is it, unless you are saying that we shouldn't pander to people with addictions and whilst vaping is perfectly legal, it should be banned to simply irritate people that would like to vape. Alcohol is still more damaging to the body than vaping whether you are an alcoholic or not

This has already been discussed, the potency of a drug irrelevant given the quantities and respective amounts actually taken.

I have a feeling that the pipe will get some sort of regulation with a price increase eventually, it will probably come when some back street shop decides to make its own 'cheep as chips' fluid and in the process causes a health scare. Obviously the gov will use this excuse to ban them or heavily tax them, lets face it, they'll lose a ton of tax from smokers quitting and will want to rake some back.

I think we're at cross purposes here - I'm talking about smoking and you're talking about vaping so there is a huge difference .
Anyway, you say alcohol is more damaging to the body - you don't quantify that ,but you later state that the potency of a drug is irrelevant given the quantities and respective amounts actually taken . Alcohol can have beneficial effects when taken in moderation , whilst smoking has no beneficial effects whatsoever , and is indeed entirely harmful.
The ASH report does indeed say that but you really shouldn't take it out of context . The rest of it makes interesting reading , particularly the line: " the total burden caused by tobacco products more than outweighs any economic benefit from their manufacture and sale"and " another study has put the estimated cost ( of treatment of smoking related illness ) as high as £5.2billion "
The stuff about healthy people being a greater burden on the NHS is a classic case of statistical slight of hand - the very point of the existence of the NHS is to keep people healthy , it is like suggesting that since 30% of road deaths are caused by drunk drivers and 70% are caused by sober ones then more drunk drivers would result in fewer deaths!
