Bang the fook on.

E cigs are not curing your addiction, just prolonging it through other means. If you were out on a night out and forgot your E cig, you will be bumming fags off people after the first pint, coz you are still addicted. You haven't given up smoking at all.

Best thing to do is go cold turkey for six weeks. After that it's a breeze. No E cigs or nothing holding you down. It's all about the will power. Change your old routines, knock drinking on the head for abit, avoid the fag break crowd at work. You will be better for it.

Completely fucking missing the point

I have not chosen e-cigs to give up...I have chosen them to carry on

It is just a different nicotine delivery system...and a much healthier one

Nicotine in itself is no more harmful to you than caffeine

Do you give shit to people who have a latte in the morning?

No

People need to rethink their attitude to nicotine...it is not the killer...the killer is inhaling toxic smoke into your lungs

Uneducated misinformation like this is damaging

What a load of old tosh. What sort of oddball WANTS to be addicted to nicotine? Did you put that on your new years resolutions.

*Join a Gym
*Learn Spanish
*Spend hundreds of pounds on E cigs so that I can become addicted to nicotine?

You're only fooling yourself. And when that e cig runs out you will be crashing real cigarettes off your mates within an hour. I know, because I've been there. I smoked for 20 years, and used the e cigs for 12 months. They did nothing but fool me into thinking I'd given up. You haven't.

Did you even fucking read my post

I DON'T WANT TO GIVE UP NICOTINE

I like it

E-Cigs give me nicotine without the cancer causing smoke that comes with it

Everyone has their own addictions

Whether its sugar..caffeine..alcohol or McDonalds burgers

E-Cigs won't kill me like cigarettes..so I'm happy

Wierdo.

You're addicted to nicotine because you are a smoker, not because you like nicotine. And if it was just the nicotine you wanted, then why smoke it like a cigarette?

E cigs are targeted at people who are in denial, with money to burn and a lack of will power. And you look like a right plonker sucking on them.

Put it this way, they don't improve your life in anyway.

So you are having a go at people for using e cigs because you used one for 12 months and it wasnt sucessful for you?

So what if I know someone who know longer smokes thanks to these - that makes everything you say void doesnt it.

Ian's not saying that, though. He's saying he WANTS to use e-cigs. Not to give up, but because he likes nicotine???

If you use them to wean yourself off fags then brilliant, it's a success. But at some stage you will have to stop buying/using the e-cigs as well.

Why not cut out the middle man who is still delivering your fix, and go cold turkey from the word go?

The first 2 weeks are a nightmare, but after six you are home and dry.

I like smoking...this is a healthier alternative...and at no stage will I give up...I have enough equipment/resources to use them until old age

Would you rather me go back to cigarettes and not see my children grow up?

I know someone who "smokes" the non nicotine stuff. Not sure why but he obviously needs to be doing something with his hands or something. He has given up Nicotine because of the e cigs but doesnt want to give up the e cig.

Why not keep your nose out of other people's business? What the merry fuck does it have to do with you what other people do with their cash?

You've completely missed IBH's point and have just carried on with your hysterical mumsnet rant.

Busy c**t.

361 days since I last had cigarette. I have no intention or craving to ever smoke a real cigarette ever again

Put it this way, they don't improve your life in anyway.

Ecigs have changed my life.

My lung capacity has increased
My blood pressure is back to normal - I no longer need to take tablets to control it.
I generally feel fitter and healthier
I have saved a fortune (paid for my season ticket)
I've not had a cough/cold over winter for the first time in about 20 years.
So I think they have improved my life.

I am still addicted to nicotine, but I would not feel the need to bum/buy cigs if my ecig packed up. I reckon I would throw up.

Whilst I am controlling the amount of nicotine delivered and gradually decreasing the nicotine strength, for now I'm more than happy to look a plonker sucking on my ecig.
Yes I have tried to stop smoking through different ways over the years and nothing worked. Ecigs did.

Just swapping one addiction for another imho.

Cold turkey is the only way.

Your not swapping an addiction as you are still feeding the addiction with the nicotine but minus all the other 4,000harmful chemicals
As you get different nicotine strengths from 25ml down to zero this is a far more effective way to wean yourself off.
Plus save in the region if £2,300 a year in the process

A friend of a friend has a couple of shops now , did the stall in a shopping centre route , set up a stall with samples and discount kits met him the other week and his shop has just turned a small profit after five months but he has loads of order on his books . Weed smokers buy them as well ;)

Opening mine on Friday fella!

You're talking to someone who smoked for 20 years, and used e cigs for a year.

I get all of that. And it's great. But it didn't cure my smoking addiction, it just relocated it to another vehicle. And I was pleased with myself and telling everyone how great I was for giving up the cigs, but I was still 100% addicted. It was only when I stopped buying the e-cigs that I really gave up smoking. And I felt rather foolish for being taken in by it. Did the e-cigs help me give up? Probably not, and whenever I was on a night out with my mates or had a tough day at work I would be smoking the real things again.

Cold turkey for two weeks. After six you won't even remember you smoked.
