Early Doors

Not everyone agrees on what is funny, or what is good TV.

However, it's noteworthy that no one on here is a dissenting voice about Early Doors. We all agree it was a classic series, criminally underrated and much missed (apart from current repeats).

Also - it much benefits from having no silly studio audience noise (canned or otherwise). Can you imagine it with all that moronic laughter? No, thanks.

Jean on karaoke singing Angel's was a brilliant bit of TV.
I hate the song as well.
Winnie and Jean a brilliant double act as well.

Just watched season 1 episode 4.
Final 2 minutes where Mel's making up with her boyfriend, and Ken comes upstairs to disturb them, then goes to have a piss while the lad's delivering his speech to talk Mel round to loving him again. Ken's pissing interrupts them several times, then the lad tells her that he loves her, just as Ken farts, then the titles roll.
Sorry but I laughed loud and long.
Check it out - the whole episode is superb, of course.

So the pub it was filmed in was an actual boozer ?
The TV series was filmed at a set at the old Granada Studios in Manchester, on the same stage that had been used for Sooty and Sweep, Phil recalls. He joked: “They just moved some puppets out, and moved some puppets in!”
