Ebay

I presume all the whiners on here claiming you shouldn't be able to make a profit out of gig tickets would close down all second hand car dealers or antique shops too.

Trouble is if you put them on there for face value they get snapped up by touts and then re-sold with the tour making the profit. Happened to me once, tried to sell them to a genuine buyer and the guy relisted them as soon as he got them.

So next time I went to a fans forum to sell them and what happens the girl buying them kept delaying on paying and then wanted me to drive them over to Liverpool because it was too late to post them.

So I don't blame anyone for selling on ebay and getting the going rate for them.

Can you look at an eBayers history to see if they appear to be a genuine fan or not? Someone continually buying tickets for everything from The Saturdays to Black Sabbath won't be constantly unlucky with buying from regular sources. They'll be a tout. Actually, is it possible to cancel bids because you disagree ethically?!

My mate who bought adele tickets which have all been cancelled due to her having a sausage roll stuck in her throat, is hassling the ebay seller who sold him 2 tickets for £200 odd for a refund.
The tout is offering him face-value only (£50-£60). He's well pissed off.

I've told him to take it and and write the loss off to experience. He keeps telling me that he's going to a debt recovery firm to chase the seller. I told him he's wasting his time, but he won't listen. He's fuming and wants his dosh... am I right, is he pissing in the wind or has he got a case?

Your friend entered into a leally binding contract.
If this went to Court and the Buyer had letters from E-Bay saying this was the case, then Court Costs would also become involved.
Unfortunately your friend is pissing in the wind.
As a long standing Seller on E-Bay (10 years) I too would not offer any kind of refund, although I have done in certain circumstances.

-- Fri Nov 04, 2011 12:31 am --

Yes you can actually cancel a bid,but this must be done by you the Buyer. The Seller cannot act on your behalf, unless they do not want to sell to you directly.

Cheers, I thought so, I told him if he keeps badgering the tout, he'll probably end up with nothing. "Take the £50" was my advice, but the self-righteous fool is taking the moral high ground. He's big on ethics and slow on the realities of a cruel world.
