Eberechi Eze

Good player but with Doku coming in and potentially freeing up Foden I’d rather keep Palmer and McAtee around.
 
Signing Eze feels all too similar to signing Phillips for me. Underwhelming.

Mid 20s 1 club player.
No experience of playing a possession based system and hence absolute shot in the dark if he can adapt.
No european experience.
1 good notable season when no one cared for him before that.

To accept all that and still splash 80/90 million is baffling to me

I dont care what the market is or what other clubs are spending. Theyre only spending that buying from other prem clubs. If you can target from europe you can still get value.

A similar fee gets a younger more experienced better alternative from germany italy or spain.

We’re not short on english players so go and get the best europe can offer not south london.

Not got a clue what that first sentence means. The second one reinforced my point. The club will pay what it feels a player is worth. If not they walk away. That clearly illustrates the price is material. My other point is that you, me and everyone else will have thoughts on what players are worth. We may have different opinions, but we all have them.
 
so basically reading here briefly we are basically dismissing every signing we make at this point because they might be another phillips, 2 games into his second season we have completely dismissed a player who apart from having a couple of injuries in his first seasons main fault is that he plays in the same position as the best in the world in that position and cant dislodge him from it, if you have a ferrari and then you get in an audi they both do the same job but of course the audi isnt quite as good as the ferrari but it doesnt make it a bad car.

I don't really,I want players that make us better tha'ts my only concern.If the club decide they pay 40mill 50 mill 70 mill for any player is down to them and the money men not my concern. Only what he brings to the team.

He played for QPR b4 Palace.

Technically very very gifted, can score goals.

We need to replace Gundo's goal output in that area.

Thats why I assume we are interested.

It’s all about risk, he’s a good buy at £40m as the financial risk is low if he turns out to be a dud and can’t make the step up eg Phillips

at This stage of the transfer window, we are at our fourth choice option , why spend £90m on a player that is a gamble
 
He did stand out last season for Palace, and some players are later developers in terms of starting to look too quality. Grealish didn’t look amazing at 21 did he. I think we’ll have scouted Eze for some time and Pep has obviously seen aspects to his game that he likes and no doubt can improve.

We need to increase our squad size with proven PL quality, that’s exactly what Eze will do. We should be getting behind this lad and excited to see what he can bring to our team. Fee is irrelevant, that’s the market this year, pretty sure the club won’t suddenly find we can’t afford it, we’re run much better than that.

Eze and Doku will prove to be pretty astute signings I reckon.

Completely understand that and agree. I honestly think though, every fan at some point has said or thought "crikey, that's a bit much" or "what a bargain". But yes, in reality it's what the club feels is a relevant fee to pay for a player.

Not a risk you or I need to worry about. Will he improve us is the only question imo

Chelski and Saudi have vastly inflated the market so if we're prepared to go to 80 for Paqueta don't see any issues going to 90 for Eze.All hearsay at the moment with a 9day poker tournament now playing out in the media and with our recent achievements the club deserve our trust,we're not purchasing a 31 year old for 70million.

I just think some posters need something to moan about. If it's not the player, it's the cost .
