So is Zaha the benchmark for “setting the world alight”, is that the standard we are basing it on? If you are happy to not win anything for a few seasons then I agree, let’s develop our own youth. If we want to continue pushing on & breaking records though we need to buy established players be it domestic or foreign sadly. Our academy is predominantly to provide us with a revenue, the odd one, a rare one at that, may break through. I can’t actually think of any we’ve let go that fans complained about that’s gone on to a point I’ve thought “damn I wish we never sold him”.

My point is that Eze isn't as good as Zaha. Would I want Zaha? No - but he was far more effective than Eze. I gave him as an example of someone doing well in a lesser team - doesn't mean I want him.

As for being established, Eze is 25 and has a record of 15 goals and 11 assists in 87 games.

I'm confident that Cole, McAtee, etc could return similar stats with a run of games.

We still won things by getting rid of Lavia but signing Kalvin Phillips. Who would you rather have in your squad now?

Giving players like palmer and Lewis a chance isn’t going to mean we won’t win anything… you really mustn’t rate our youngsters if you think the drop off is going to be that big. Sounds like you just want ready made replacements.

You have to find a balance. Sign the experienced players and give the youngsters a chance. Palmer for me would be one of those players if we sold him. I also think Mcatee has the talent as well

But Eze isn't that good and does not have great stats. Olise is a much better player

Fabrizio Romano gets a slating on here but I'd imagine that with his 18.3 million followers he's the go to guy for lots of agents and clubs. He can afford to do it full time as he's presumably raking it in.

It’s not all about goals and assists for a midfielder. Check his passing stats, key passes, shots on goal, his interceptions etc.
