Eberechi Eze

Love Eze, done great things for us, but I don't in all honesty see him as a Man City level player. Hopefully he stays with us, but if he was to go I think he's a Spurs/Villa level player. Unbelievable talent but pretty dozy at times, a bit of a "highlights" player.

what about Wharton mate? Think he could make it here?

I remember we got promoted in 2013, Pulis kept us up, and we made the crazy decision to reappoint Neil Warnock in the summer of 2014. But that summer we signed James Mccarthur, and almost instantly watching him we new we had a different level of player. Everything he did was a step up on what we were used to. And he ended up being a key part of the side for nearly a decade. The feeling was very similar when Wharton joined. We have a lot of very good mid-table Premier League players. Jefferson Lerma who plays in the same position as Wharton is a good example, he would walk into any lower half Premier League team in a heartbeat. He's a good player. But Wharton is something else, like Mccarthur when we were a newly promoted side, he's a completely different level. He seems to have so much time compared to everyone else. I don't think I've ever seen him misplace a pass. I think he's an incredible talent.

TLDR: I think he has all the talent to be one of the best players in the world in his position.

I really like him

Rated Eze since he was with QPR in the Championship

Thanks to whoscored.com and his impressive dribbling stats back then

Really like Eze as a player, so talented. Still not sure I'd want him with us though. It's hard to know who can adapt to how we play and I guess I'm just not sure.

Been impressed with how he's worked defensively as an England sub though, it's surprised me. Obviously would want to see him on the ball more, but, well, Southgate...

He’s too similar to Grealish for us to spend big money on.

Isnt he like a winger or second striker?

Why is there talk like he is a centre midfielder?

We have Jack and Doku for the left, so tough for me to see how this works.

the way we line up in the box midfield he could play the LCM

LCM - RCM
DM - CB

But in rest defense he has to be a box to box player next to the DM, and part of the build up in the centre like Gundogan or Bruno Guimaraes that we want.

I prefer Bernardo Silva to start there, and maybe Lewis/Nunes being the rotation option.

If we want a centre player, Id prefer a more defensive/deep lying playmaker type.

dont see him starting many games for us. unless big injury problems across the squad in which case we could be fucked.

we need to be ultra careful of the the players excelling in lower half sides. Phillips looked great in Leeds, Nunes looked great in Wolves. not saying Eze is this category, but could be, especially if he goes from being fixed starter at Palace to 5/10 starts periodically here which can result his confidence shot.

I much more prefer of players from abroad coming in after performing well in a CL club like Haaland, Akanji, Bernardo etc. opposite example is Ake, coming from a shit Bournemouth turned out be very useful for us. so its not all rotten.

even Grealish had less great seasons than ok seasons here and he was immense in his last Villa season much more so than the likes of Phillips, Nunes before moving to Ciy etc.

Seems a strange one this. Undoubtedly a really good player, but his skillset is too similar to Grealish. Are we taking a punt that he can be converted to be one of our central midfielders?
