Echeverri Signs

When are we actually going to see him play? He wasn’t even in the squad on Saturday. It’s now March. Is he more Kakey than Julian?
He arrived on Thursday not been here for a week yet! As Pep would say he’s been bought for the next 10 years not for the next 10 hours

Just thinking of other Argentine players and how quicky they settled .....
Ossie ardiles.straight away...... Ricky villa ? Let's not go there ...
Alex sabella @ Sheffield utd ,straight away
Tarantini @ Birmingham City straight away
Carlos tevez@ Whu...can't remember if he settled straight away
Sergio!!!!!!! Straight away !!

Who can tell, adapting to England is one thing, adapting to Pep is another.
Interesting .we will see
Tevez took a while to settle, he was at West Ham signed in August but didn't score his first goal till March, but he did have a good end of season and his goals kept them up.
Mascherano who arrived at the same time never really looked the part under Pardew at West Ham, played well when he went to Liverpool though.
Might have been Pardew's management.

He is obviously more of a player than Julian Alverez,

We have never had a good Argentinian forward!

Tevez: He was the first Argie to lift the FA cup as captain. He also managed to get united fans to hate him more than Paul Ince. (while not speaking English, he also got Barton sent off and lifted a paper tombstone with Fergies name on)

Sergio Aguero: Our all time goalscorer, goals per game a lot better than anyone to ever play in the premier league, has won more premier leagues than 8 of the 9 top PL scorers ever. IMO the Only PL player who I have ever seen who could match Rooney! (and had a baby to Marradonas daugher)

Alvarez: Won the Copa America, signed for us and looked like a shy student, then in his first season, won the treble, won the world cup, won the league again, then sold for £85m!

Zabba, Ottamendi and Demichalis also all won league titles with us!

We will see him when Pep convinces him that he reminds him of Messi at his age!

United paid more for Veron (£28m) 25 years ago than we did for Alverz and Echeverri combined!

I know what you mean....But Jesus, before his two serious injuries, was,in my opinion, one of the most exciting forwards I've ever seen play the game.
You have to think back to those times,.....before the destructive knee injury.,..the lad was class.pure quality.Brazils no.9 no less....and Brazil is a big country....he rose to the very top, went to. City, and i remember him
Scoring proper centre forward headed goals ,as well as dazzling skills on the floor. He was pure magic.
Then came the injuries ,and being forced to run and press the defence for 90 mins..under peps orders..like a Paul dickov...,..

It is,imo,no wonder,he never achieved the heights he could off
But early Jesus,uninjured..,.was electric.in my eyes anyway.....
A fantastic player ,who suffered the same injury,as Paul Lake, but came back....
Do not forget the hard yards this young lad put in for City!
Mate, he was average at best! His most memorable moment was scoring at Southampton to get us 100 points, which he will always be remembered for!

He certainly didn't have the same injury as Paul lake 'and come back' (Lakey had 14 operations in 5 years)!

For me tho he dosen't even make our top 3 ever Brazilians

1 - Ederson
2 - Fernandinho
3 - Elano

Average at best, lol none of the players in the greatest City side in history were average ,.but
It's all about opinions....

IT WAS Pardew, he didn't even know them nor play them.

Indeed he wasn't average, yet at the same time he certainly wasn't one of the most exciting forwards I've ever seen play the game for lots of people, me included, with or withour injuries.

I think some middle ground would be more accurate with the lad.

Echeverri and Nico Gonzalez have been listed in a 33 man provisional squad for Argentina's WC qualifiers vs Uruguay and Brazil at the end of March.

I don't think this counts as a full call-up yet for Echeverri as it's described as a pre-list. This was announced a few days ago but I haven't seen this mentioned.

He's going to have a very difficult job breaking into City's match-day squads. He has to get past players like Gundogan, KDB, Grealish, Mcatee etc. I don't see Echeverri being named in the squad for Forest away. Wed 2nd April vs Leicester which follows shortly after the FA Cup tie at Bournemouth on Sunday evening is a possibility.

Yeah saw on the player thread. Perrone in the squad too. Nico Gonzalez is the Juve player, not our new signing.

If he's good enough he plays.look at Simpson Pusey v Khusanov..after Chelsea you might have said latter is unlucky not to get chance. But now? Looks a million miles away from Khusanovs level. Needs a loan out.

Echeverri cannot be left out if he trains and outshines an experienced champions league winning squad in training.. I'm looking forward to player feedback on how he's doing..Pep first comment was "nice skills" with a wry grin. I suspect he's ran rings round our current midfielders

Sounds like we are going to be pleasantly surprised by how ready this lad is to contribute.

Last season Foden owned that “middle of the park” position, leading to his best ever production numbers. I have a feeling Claudio is going to give him a run for his money and show him a thing or two about driving forward
