Did I mention I'd been on Eggheads?
It’s mentioned in the Punk thread but (I feel) deserves its own thread.

Wythenshawe blue Eddie Garrity formed Wild Ram and then Ed Banger and the Nosebleeds with Vini Reilly in the band.
“Ain’t been to no music school” was the best known single but this song “Kinnel Tommy” appeared on a CD of City songs many years back.

Ed left The Nosebleeds and briefly fronted Wythenshawe’s Slaughter & The Dogs.

In recent times Ed became Edweena and still performed on stage.
RIP Ed / Edweena

This is from Duffy's bio, on his own website:

"In 1977 he (Duffy) featured as guitarist in The Nosebleeds with future singer of The Smiths (Stephen) Morrissey, they only played two gigs after one of which Billy was asked to join a new band, Studio Sweethearts, which was being formed by Mick Rossi of Wythenshawe’s Slaughter and the Dogs."

You can appreciate how exact recollections might differ, almost half a century on.

Never heard this before, but I fucking love it!

Love that City CD. Mainly shite but couple pearlers, including:

Having learned the news about Edweena's death and heard about the awful circumstances, over the next few days I found myself thinking a lot about my times with Ed Banger and The Nosebleeds. The friends I made, the compatriots we've lost along the way. I've written a piece that talks about designing the sleeve, being present at the recording session and all those colorful characters involved in that purple period at the start of punk in Manchester. As always, it's free to read on my Substack: https://bit.ly/3Cyn8luThe-Nosebleeds---Ain't-Bin-To-No-Music-School---Front-Cover.jpg
