Eden Hazard: Chelsea were frightened of city...

Gary Cahill said something after we'd beaten them at our place a while back which confirmed just how good we can be.

He said that as centre-backs you expected to deal with about 3 major threats or problems during a typical game. However against us he lost count of how many times we came at them with a major threat.

"They just kept coming at us" he said.

Its like the bit from lord of the rings when gadalf is reading the book in the mines of moria..

"They have taken the bridge and the second hall. We have barred the gates, but cannot hold them for long. The ground shakes...drums. Drums in the deep. We cannot get out. A Shadow moves in the dark...we cannot get out...They are coming".

I think that Chelsea probably had their worst fears confirmed as soon as the match kicked off. City tore into them, moved the ball quickly and, most importantly, ran the ball straight at (through?) them from deep, most notably Ya Ya but also notably Nasri and Milner as a prelude to "death by a thousand triangles" when we got to their box. Clichy set the tone in the first few minutes with a barnstorming run. I bet Chelsea were a sight more frightened after 10 minutes than they had been before the kick off. I don't think they showed us too much respect, so much as they had to cling on in the face of some scintillating football. Goals, however, do change games and when Ba scored they had no choice but to "go for it", Luis became virtually another central attacker and City had several clear breaks which we wasted. In the end it was Aguero and Tevez doing to Chelsea what they had done to United which won us the game.

'Death by a thousand triangles' - Brilliant

good post all round i say.

From a Champions League and FA Cup winning team to a team battling for 4th place in the span of 1 year. i bet he really regrets his move now.

Whilst I did take particular joy in watching him walk up to collect his runners up medal in the Charity Shield, wondering if he had any doubts about his choice, things in football can change very quickly. Chelsea are Mourinho and a couple of signings away from winning the league again, or at least a domestic cup. He's a young lad in no rush. And if the chance came up to sign him today I'd hope the club would snap it up without a second thought, the kid is very good.

Whilst I did enjoy seeing him collect the runners up medal, I enjoyed the back heel fail where he ended up looking a right **** a little more :)

Every club in England is scared to face us including Utd. It's written all over the tactics teams employ against us. Not one team tries to 'mix it' and every one of them plays 10 behind the ball counter attack football.

Hazard must be gutted he made a truly wank decision.

To those doubting his ability - had he been in our squad this year we'd have won the league again without doubt.

The lad has a fantastic football brain, brilliant feet and is very direct. Was easily Chelsea's best player on Sunday.

Not quite - Arsenal, Everton (at Goodison moreso than our place), Southampton, and Swansea have a good go at us. Southampton played us off the park with very ambitious tactics and Everton at their place always try and beat us. Swansea beat us last season with similar tactics to Southampton this season (press us, dispossess, attack), not negative really just very clever. United are hilariously negative against us, always try and play on the break (it worked in the 3-2).
