Ederson and Jesus cleared to play (Pg 63)

What a complete joke to sanction players who couldnt have played anyway due to Brazillian "quarantine rules" and would have missed games on return because of English "quarantine rules".

If ever there was an abuse of process for using sanctions it is this farce.
What quarantine rules? Unless my eyes were fooling me I saw a full house Wimbledon tournament with pretty much all the top players involve. Haven't you heard of the special exemptions they were giving athletes to be able to compete.

It doesn’t just affect us, it’s all clubs who chose not to send players. What I don’t get is that Brazilian officials stopped the game because Argentina fielded 4 English based players so what would have been the difference if all the English based Brazilians had turned up, what would they have done then Would they have stopped the game had they were played for Brazil.
That's the bit I don't get if they turned up would they not have been in quarantine anyway

I'm not convinced this will actually happen. But even if it does, it only means that they miss one game. Had they gone, they'd have missed three.

Bit crap with the keeper situation. I think Mahrez can cover Jesus though. Away end on Saturday will be class if Carson starts in goals!

Let's be clear, if they uphold this, none of these players will be playing for Brazil again this season unless there's a change in covid rules.

Let's just think about what is required if you wanted Ederson or Jesus to play for them. So AFAIK, people arriving from the UK into Brazil have to isolate for 10 days (although I'm sure they waive the rules for footballers, because as we all know, they can't get covid and winning a football match is far more important anyway), and then vice-versa people have to isolate for 2 weeks.

So to arrive in time for the match, assuming you want at least one training session, our players would have to leave Manchester on 23rd August for Brazil's game on 3rd September. They would then fly back on 11th September and would have to isolate until the 25th. So in order for our players to play for their country, they would have to miss the following matches:

28th Aug vs. Arsenal
11th September vs Leicester
16th September vs RB Leipzig
18th September vs Southampton
22nd September vs Wycombe
25th September vs Chelsea

And then Brazil's next game is on the 7th, 10th and 14th October, so to arrive there in time and isolate for 10 days, the players would have to travel out on 26th September, arriving back from isolation on 28th October, at which point, you guessed it, they'd have to fly out to Brazil to be there in time for their 11th November game. They'd probably be able to fit in the Palace game on 30th Oct but that'd be their only game between now and December.

So even if it can't be sorted, a 5 game suspension is an absolute no brainer.

So, Brazil are trying to get Brazilian players banned for not going to South America, but stopped a game that had already started to stop Argentinian players from the UK from playing.

Sport persons travelling into the UK from a UK red listed country have to do a 10 quarantine with no exemptions.

Hopefully the clubs and the Premier League itself will get together and appeal this decision. If they'd travelled and isolated like they would have had to do they wouldn't have been available for selection anyway so would just be detrimental to Brazil to be taking up a squad place that could've been used by someone else. An absolute farce all round.

For reasons Brazilian citizens apparently arnt required to quarantine on entry to the country, so they could have actually played, unlike the Argentines who came from the same place, which in itself is completely ridiculous and probably another reason why Brazil has been doing so poorly with covid if cant act objectively with rules.

I feel fifa has maybe bitten off too much here trying to enforce this ruling and some powerful interests could be happy to try curb their power over club football if they get the opportunity to go to some court.

I do think this affects other teams more than City. I personally dont think its a bitg deal. Palmer/Mahrez/false9/ferran/sterling can play for Jesus, and Carson in goal isnt going to lose us a game.
