The 'idiot' you're referring to is a pro coach/analyst that writes for konzeptfussballberlin.de, guess he knows his stuff.
I don't think he's actually watched Ederson then tbh, if he goes for goal there the keeper has 2 or 3 seconds to get back on his line and have his feet set. That's without even considering the scenario that in a fair contest, outside the box for the ball, from the same starting position a goalkeeper is going to be in serious trouble against most outfield players.

Because if yes, Ed could just score. If not, if anyone really put their keeper there, you'd have Sané move closer to the keeper, and Ederson can definitely knock it into the opposition box, and no keeper in the world is going to outpace Sané who gets a single touch on the ball and it's a goal.
The actual answer is simple - you give up and drop deep, allowing us to get to half way before trying to press. Burnley did that and it genuinely caused us trouble before the penalty.

I bet if the Spurs keeper was that high up the pitch, Ederson could play a 1-2 with a CB or fernandinho from the goal kick, and still get it over his head and into goal before Lloris got back.

Another option, yep. The whole idea of having a sweeper keeper that leaves the box before the initial pass is just plain stupid tbh, as the costs involved outweigh the benefits, they absolutely have to win and control the pass in that scenario as any layoff leaves an open goal.
