You would've thought Arsenal would want it done as soon as possible to allow them time to get in a replacement and let the dust settle. They wouldn't want their best players departure hanging over them as they go into a new season. It would start a new season with negativity around the club and they've had a fair amount of that this year.

But on the other hand, everyone knowing they have at least 60 million quid in their pockets doesn't really strengthen their bargaining position with other clubs when they're looking to buy a replacement.
