Ederson Moraes

Ederson has some way to go to become one of the top keepers.
We should sign an experienced top level keeper then, one that's won champions leagues, international trophies, league titles in a top 3 league and has over 400 professional appearances. If he's been nominated for FIFA team of the year that would be a bonus.

What's Claudio Bravo doing these days?

Struggling to adapt something Ederson will do if he does sign for City all for a world record fee.

I'm officially beyond confused
Pretty simple mate. Any keeper that's under the age of 27, or hasn't won pretty much everything in the game won't be able to hack it and any experience at a club without their own page on goal.com doesn't count. We need to get someone who's got loads of experience and medals from a top club as they'll be a guaranteed success. Apart from Bravo as he wasn't.

Pretty much all the "top keepers" moved to the massive clubs in which they needed to play for to acquire the tag of "top keeper" at about his age, usually after impressing at another club in much the way Ederson has.

Ederson is still in the potential stage of his career and will at some stage make some high profile mistakes (whether it he still at Benfica or at City).

Neuer? Check
Buffon? Check
Cech? Check :)
Lloris? Check
Ter Stegen? Check
De Gea? Check
Casillas? Bollocks, this fucks the model, he was good enough at 19 so Madrid put him into the first team. Let's not sign Moraes, he's too young at 23, it'll be a disaster.

It's the ability to bounce back from the mistakes is the question mark.

Unlike Bravo.

Bravo is an international keeper as well as being Captain for his country he and has experienced bad form at some point in his career and will bounce back.

At some point Ederson may get his chance for Brazil (just like his fellow countryman Gabriel Jesus has been given) but the keepers mentioned have been capped for their respective countries at early ages. All except Ter Stegen have been first choices for their country as well.

De Gea, Buffon, Ter Stegen, Neuer and Casillas were behind Casillas, Peruzzi, Neuer, Lehman and Zubizaretta respectively.

Both Casillas and Buffon were the same age 22 when took over from Italy's and Spain's first choices (Pagiluca, Peruzzi and Canizares) but had been capped previously at a younger age which is the point I am making.

So any keeper that isn't no 1 at the age of 22 for their country is useless then? But surely all the great keepers were born at the age of 27?
