Edin Dzeko and RVP compared

The problem Dzeko has - like most of his team mates - is his manager.

What's the point of a centre forward without wingers?!

He's starved of supply, and, just like his team mates - when he hits form his manager drops him.....................

Thanks for this

I was starting to worry that we didn't have enough Dzeko threads

Did this really need a new thread? Edin Dzeko will never get the credit he deserves even if he scored 30 goals. That is because he is tall and looks goofy at times, and that is why he's underestimated in a league that loves to see guys running like headless chickens all the time. Edin is a SMART player above all else. You see him choose to pass the ball when he gets it rather than dribble like Aguero and lose posession. He is so underrated with his ability to create chances. He always seems to have a magnifying glass on him when he does make a mistake or lose posession. But Bosnians are used to this, we must work harder in order to get any recognition and I'm glad to see his goals speak for themselves. :)

Anyone who doesn't think that Dzeko or Aguero would be among the top scorers with the rags because of the way their midfielders create chances and get the ball up the field with pace is delusional.
*sigh*

Statistics can be used to prove anything.

What part of 99 minutes per goal, compared to 111, is it you think is statistical nonsense?

Nothing wrong with the statistic. Did I say it was nonsense? I said statistics can be used to prove anything. Having a better minutes per goal ratio means nothing whatsoever.

If you have played a decent amount of minutes, it does actually mean something, despite you saying the opposite.

For example, Dzeko is a pretty effective goalscorer.

And I would venture to say, if Mancini had a clue about how to use him, Edin would be the top scorer and top assister of this league. But since Mancini has no clue, Edin will just have to settle for being the top scorer in our illustrious club.

However, Edin does have a shite first touch. However, however, about which no fucks are given.

On the other hand Tevez tracks back. Can't score goals anymore, but he sure tracks back. Can't pass for his life, but he sure tracks back. Come to think of it, does Tevez do anything but track back?

And we do have nice possession stats. First third, but top marks for possession. Maybe we can win the Possession Gold Nugget Trophy. Or the First Touch Award...

As all matchgoing blues know, Edin's sensational strike rate is achieved despite us playing in a way that doesn't now and will never suit him. He's a typical old fashioned goal machine, some might say he's lucky as balls roll into the net off his knee/arse but he's a man with a rare gift - the ability and know how to find space in the box.

Spot on.

But Dzekos stats are clearly buoyed by coming off the bench and scoring late on, something that he seems adept to. So he comes on when the other team may be tired because of our possession stats and scores a goal in the 15 minutes he has come on for.

Do a comparison on goals per minute when starting on RVP and Dzeko.

Players who come off the bench tend to have a better goals per minute ratio than you might think such as little pea and Le Fondre.
