When marking and you're outnumbered, you attack the ball, and whoever is closest is your man, which in this case was Smalling.

any kind of contact on that header and Kompany wouldnt have had the opportunity to feck up, and Nani would not have scored that goal. Regardless of what a nice guy he is, he is too robotic, destroys any buid up play with his inability to hold it up/lack of clever movement/distribution and has considerably increased the deficit with regards to the Financial Fair Play criteria.

whilst he could of followed smalling he is not a bloody defender and we had 3 actual defenders ball watching as he put the ball in the net.
