Edin or Mario?

Said it before but our system of 4 strikers is a disaster waiting to happen. 3 would be much, much, much better.

Mario has more talent but Dzeko is a better player and probably will be as long as Mario has a chip on his shoulder. If the light bulb ever switches on above Mario's head then everything will change, but the wait goes on...

Edin scores more goals than Mario.
Edin has more brains than Mario.
Edin has more talent than than Mario.

Sorry, the promise of some mythical talent that Mario supposedly has is just not working for me any more. Mario is simply not showing anything.

Sure, some players are indeed better as subs - you are correct. But not your most productive scoring machine on the team. Dzeko is the most productive striker we have.

We are basically not using the best goal scorer because of some belief that he won't score unless he comes on after 60th minute.

I am sorry - but that simply does not make any sense to me. Your supersub can be someone who scores 1 goal every 200 minutes. But not your most prolific scorer on the team.

When players hit a rich vein of form and are as confident as Dzeko and kolarov are, they have to be picked.

Dzeko is only ever going to be successful if he plays 9 or 10 games in a row.

Any empirical data supporting that?

If Dzeko is in such good form you better watch out. Clearly confidence=form with this guy.

In 2008/2009 when he won the bundesliga with wolfsburg

-from february till the end of that season he scored 21 goals in 16 league matches, only not scoring in 3 of those 16.

A first indication that Dzeko needs a decent run of games to be effective we saw for the first time at the beginning of last season where he was scoring for fun aswel but then got benched by Mancini. Let's hope Bobby learned from his mistake and that Dzeko gets more gametime than last time...

Well lets see:

- Bundesliga champion and Golden Boot with 25+ goals in 2010.
- Leading goalscorer of WC2010 and WC2014 qualifiers (so far)
- Bosnia's all-time leading goalscorer (at 25 years of age, mind you).

Is that enough for you?

Claims that Edin is an ''impact sub'' are outrageous - the guy has enjoyed a great career prior to coming to city while NEVER being a sub.

Dzeko is the kind of striker that you just HAVE to keep playing when he's in form. No rotation or resting needed (unless we have several weeks on the bounce playing midweek and at the weekend). He'd have won the Golden Boot last season if he wasn't placed on the bench at home to Wigan. That killed him imo. He scores 4 at Whte Hart Lane, then is an unused sub in the next match. Start him instead of Tevez, alongside Sergio, and keep playing him. Give him the love, and he will give us the goals.
