I have an iPhone 5 and have to say its the dogs bollocks! The G3 is also but feels more Plasticky and cheap!
Yeah, it's great how they made it slightly longer than the one they released in 2007. Great feature that nicely displays the maps that might take you to the right place one day.

The S3 feels like that because it's designed not to break so easily. That's one of the reasons they didn't think glass all over was a good idea. That said, the Note 2 and Nexus 4 are both higher spec and also feel more premium.

Oh my contract is £6:90 a month not inflated
Is that £36? That's much more like it if you have a 5. At that price point you might avoid being labelled a mug.

How can he say it is piss poor. He has never had one. No one that I know that has a 5 thinks it is anything other than the best phone they have ever had.
Because they are mugs who are tied into the Apple ecosystem already. Their market share is going downhill rapidly for a reason. The original iPhone was the best phone around, but they've steadily gone backwards ever since.

Six pounds ninety pence...200mins..5000text..500mb... Perfect for my use

I don't know what else I would ever want from a phone though. It does everything I want and does it excellently.
It would probably be nice to be able to find the major UK airports without having to pay for a new map app. True multi-tasking maybe, i.e. multiple on-screen apps simultaneously. Handwriting support maybe? NFC would be good for payments. How about being able to copy music, videos, etc. onto and off the phone from anywhere without having to install software? Codec support for A/V playback? Swappable battery in case it runs out? Insert an SD card to quickly exchange large files or extend your storage? Wi-Fi direct to transfer large files between devices?

I could go on and on for hours about the things it doesn't have. God, it's a dire attempt at a smartphone.<br /><br />-- Tue Nov 20, 2012 10:38 pm --<br /><br />

We were talking about contracts where you actually get the phone as part of the contract. if you get a SIM-only contract it just means you have to pay the ridiculous cost of the phone yourself, which edges you back into mug territory.

Partially back to the topic of the thread as I hadn't seen this article until just now:

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-20408514" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-20408514</a>

According to the BBC, EE users in Greater Manchester are getting an average of 17mbps on 4G masts and 7.6mbps on 3G-only masts. This fits with the 12mbps network average I quoted earlier. This compares to 11mbps on Three HSPA+ and 22mbps on Three DC-HSPA+, though if you are on a Three mast that isn't upgraded to HSPA+ yet (about quarter of the network) you may only get around 6mbps.

I've got some magic beans going for £529 if you've got money to burn?

:). Just saying price wise there isn't that much difference between the type of phone you like and the one I have. You must be more tech savvy than me because your right about android phones they do do more they have a great screen software wise it has more options than the iPhone 5, but each to there own

When you first go through the setup wizard on a Samsung phone you can choose between the standard mode and easy mode. Most people only ever see them in standard mode, but easy mode is probably as cut down as iOS.

Anyway, enough about the iPhone and back to how poor EE 4G is!

I hate Apple too. One thing about iPhones that really pisses me off is that you have to use frigging iTunes. Why should I? Why can't I just transfer my files like a hard drive.
And, the worst thing of all is when you accidentally click the iTunes quick launch icon and have to wait about three minutes for it to open up before you can close the fecking thing back down again !!!

When 3G first came out does anyone remember the speeds they promised and the actual speed what we got?

I agree looking EE 4G it's not going to be consistently what they say it should be, I reckon it'll be another 2 to 3 years before we are looking at consistently getting top speeds with fairer contracts
