EFL Playoffs time

Don’t want perennial bogey team Middlesbrough going up, they’re another Spuds who turn into prime Barca twice a season and bend over for the cartel wankers. I fucking hate them.

After the obvious arsehole teams, Middlesbrough, Wigan and Spurs are next. Fucking set of cunts all of them.

I remember boro turning the rags over a few times actually

Southampton will be charged by Friday, and Boro will get the final position I think.

The EFL were never going to not see this game played in some capacity, even if it becomes null and void.

Funny thing is with this spygate and cheating claims, is WHY didnt the FA or the Premier League get involved with Liverpool hacking into our club scouting accounts ?? They deem it not worth getting involved

They’ve already been charged and it’s gone to an independent panel.

Obviously the EFL want this sorting before 23 May, but don’t think that they can’t give the panel a deadline.

It’s a mess and there’s no precedent for sanctions under this new rule.

I guess the punishment will depend on how much of a sporting advantage the panel think Southampton got.

It could be a fine or it could be a booting out of the play offs.

If it’s not decided before the playoff final, I’ve no idea what the maximum punishment could be. Can the EFL deduct points from teams in the PL?

Any punishment needs to deter other clubs from following suit. Even a hefty fine would be peanuts if Southampton were to get promoted and it does nothing to compensate Boro unless it is paid to them.

Replaying the first leg and a fine for Southampton would seem fairest to me but messes up the final timeline and may well be impractical.

Awarding Boro a win and letting them play the final seems to be the only practical option. It may be hard on Southampton but the new rules allow for such a punishment.

Southampton were terrible in the first leg. Middlesbrough should have finished the tie that night. So there seemed to have been no sporting advantage gotten from the spying mission.

Is that relevant though? As you say, there does need to be a deterrent, I just don’t know what outcome won’t end up in the appeals courts and/or tribunals.

The issue with it is the lack of precedent and the timing of it in the playoffs. Had it been a league game, there’d be much less riding on it.

It’s going to be interesting to see how it pans out.

That's impossible to prove though, saying there was no sporting advantage

Boro could quite easily say they had to change their tactics at late notice because of what happened. That would be a disadvantage.

The game was compromised before it even started. The fact boro's finishing was dogshit is irrelevant to the issue at hand.

Stood on public land, with a phone filming and a tiny see through fence. Hardly fucking spying is it?

Think it's been blown way out of proportion this.

But the rules state nobody from an opposing club can observe, directly or indirectly, an opponents training within 72 hours of a game unless they have permission.

So it's not blowing it out of proportion. It's blatant cheating, breaking the rules and compromising the game.

Whether you want to call it spying or not, it's still not within the rules.

These games for teams like boro are like a champions league final to us, probably more important to them financially, in terms of the money going up to the Premier League will get them.

Imagine Chelsea were filming on our training and then we lost that final.

Southampton will say he was acting without their knowledge and will be fined. The end.
Might be something slightly harsher if they lose the final but won't be carried over to the Prem as it's an EFL rule they broke (I think).

I guess the panel will hear the arguments on both sides and decide on that. We don’t have all the information.

What would anyone would learn spying on our training sessions?

Spy to spymaster - “we’ve got them now - I’ve found out City pass the ball a hundred times before they shoot. Just let our player who can count to 100 tackle the player with the ball on the 100th pass. Set pieces sorted as well - don’t bother with any defenders in the box when we defend as they don’t put it in there. When we have a set piece, just put it in top of their big gk. Who cares how they defend in training because we just foul him and PGMOL will OK it. They also have a big blond guy upfront who seems quite good and he makes some great runs. No need to follow him though because nobody passes to him”.

If anyone could see that we’d really be fecked :)

“Their main tactic seems to be repeatedly putting Bernardo Silva in the bin.”

Can't stand the bloke, to be honest. My air fryer has far more talent than him. But that's not a bad shout. Though I'd actually go higher; I'd say 75%. Better still, let Middlesbrough take their place in the play off final.

Why the fuck would anyone listen to that ****'s opinion about anything?

Edit: Not aimed at you Jim but the idea someone thinks he has something valuable to say; ever.
