EFL Playoffs time

Ridiculous decision to spy on the opposition, but the punishment needed to be in place before the offence. Southampton can reasonably argue it is disproportional and had they known they'd be kicked out they wouldn't have done it.

The first thing I said was that the usual crayonmunchers and windowlickers will be out in force saying What about City.
Went on the stomping ground of said fuckwits known as the sports section of our publically funded national broadcaster for a laugh and boy they didn't disappoint!

Horrendous decision, in no way is that an appropriate punishment. No way should Boro progress, should be Hull straight through.
What and all that profit from the match missed out on, no way they would let that happen.
Arguably Boro will claim that without the spying they would have progressed.

They are though. They’re giving a losing team a second bite of the cherry and thus rewarding them.

“Really can’t see what you don’t get” - it’s called having an opinion different to yours…kind of the point of a forum.

If you think that the punishment is proportionate that’s your opinion. I think it’s ridiculous
So if that happened to us, say the day before a CL final, and we ultimately lost the match because the spy had literally seen and heard everything we were planning to do, you’d be sweet with it?

You wouldn’t expect them to be booted out and the CL given to us?

Rotterdam :-)

"He's been to Middlesbrough and Oxford, Ipswich Town as well.

They are cheating bastards, leave Binocs at home - leave Binocs at home"

BIt mad really - wasn't expecting that drastic a punishment. I'm not necessarily against it, they need to strongly deter teams from doing it, but I expect it's open to challenge. Didn't Bielsa do something similar a few years back and Leeds weren't docked points from memory?

They added EFL Regulation 127 after that, which has allowed for stricter punishments.

Correct, they were fined, but since then the league introduced the rule, Southampton broke it and club captain Harwood Bellis thought it was funny to wind up Boro players by playing the spy when they scored. Fuck around and find out, good riddance saints.

Disagree.

Southampton clearly gained advantage over tactics and by all accounts this isn't an isolated case.

Reportedly, multiple clubs have since complained about Southampton spying on them and if true, that is as broad daylight cheating as you will get.

I think the reason they have been kicked out was because of multiple claims of spying, not just because one of Southampton's staff was caught with a camera at the Boro training ground.

According to the BBC, Southampton drew or lost the other games they were accused of spying on in the build up. The advantage can’t have been that great.
