Elano

I seem to remember him putting in a shift at right back against Fulham (I think) in one of his last games. Thought he was treated badly by us at the time.

Very good at penaltys as well Elano like Balotelli.I love watching flair players like Elano Petrov and Bernabia

No matter who we sign, whatever trophy we win, Elano will always have a place in my heart. One of the best signings we have made, a key Brasil international pulling on the City shirt. Couldn't make it up at the time, little we were to know what would ensue.

Anyone remember his goal against Boro in the 8-1 thrashing? His performance against Hamburg was the best performance I have ever seen by a single player for City for as long as I can remember. The way him and Robinho linked up was just unreal, I really wish that someone could have used their noggin and bought Diego at the time and built our team around that Santos trio. We really could have gone far with those 3 amigos.

Oh well, I guess we will just have the memories like that pass against Everton away to set up Robinho to slot through Howard's legs. He's in the Brasilian league now I think playing for Gremio.

Talented player, lazy git ( most of the time)

I was a massive fan and I still am. I will always hold it against Mark Hughes for pushing him out of the team. Just one more example of Mark Hughes being a shitty manager.

He wouldn't have had a look in with Mancini.

Micah Richards said last season that Elano was just as good as Silva, citing the quality of player around them as the only difference.

If by putting in a shift you mean trying to take the piss out of Fulham with Petrov shortly before half time when we were 2-0 up and then half-arsedly jogging back from being out of position and watching Kamara smash the winner in, then yeah.

Yes, he was brilliant when he first arrived, but he'd hardly ever start a game now. And to those who think he would 'unlock defences' as we're struggling to do at the moment, there were plenty of games which he either played in or was brought on in just to do that and failed. Surely the fact that he's playing in Brazil again speaks volumes?

Everyone raves about Hamburg and Newcastle and they are quite right to. HOWEVER the week after Hamburg, we played Everton away, and he played a pass from his own box to Robinho on the half way line, it was a volley if I remember right. It was probably the greatest pass I have ever seen. Robinho then took the piss out of their defence and megged Howard.

Elano was an amazing talent when he fancied it, but in my opinion Hughes was the issue, not Elano himself. He was more than good enough to start every game in that team at the time, Hughes was just a wanker.
