Seeing them next month in chicago. Cannot wait. My Sad Captains has been on repeat of late.
25th of June in Dublin for me

Yep, the new album is superb. Up there with Asleep In The Back and The Seldom Seen Kid. I can't think of a better band going at the moment. Maybe Wild Beasts at a push.

Completely agree with the "a better band going" comment. A completely unique sounding band.

Not to sound like a thundercunt but I'm going to sound like one, they come across live as an almost religious revival experience. I've long abandoned the church and I think partly the reason is bands like Elbow produce more of an uplifting experience. I always come back to Elbow at glasto doing Grace Under Pressure with the whole crowd singing "We still believe in love so fuck you." Just amazing.

Elbow were magnificent last night - not many have the charisma of Garvey to have a crowd that size in the palm of his hand.

A much deserved triumph.

I agree mate, thought they were brilliant. Guy Garvey is a great front man, and Elbow are one of the least self indulgent bands out there, self effacing is more like it. Self indulgence was Chris Martin prancing about the Pyramid stage last night.

I can understand that Elbow aren't everyone's cup of tea, but I like them, I think they're a clever, subtle band. They don't have an ego and their interaction with the crowd is great to see. ''One Day Like This'' is one of the best tracks to close a set to. I thought they'd be good at Glastonbury and they delivered.

Fully agree with these 2 posts. Elbow were superb last night. Guy is a wonderful frontman, he's both grateful and humble of exalted position. He gives everything back to the audience and they love him for it, his voice is sublime too.

And he's no fraud - not like that tax-cheating, bog-trotting dwarf in stack-heels, hiding behind his sunglasses the night before.

Viva Elbow!!
hes a great bloke, met him in temple bar just before christmas. these are one of my favourite bands, this particular gig was 3rd time I had seen them and definitely the best. was emotional!!

Just saw them at the House of Blues here in Chicago. I go to about 20-40 shows a year, depending on my work engagements, for the last 15 years. This show last Monday easily makes it way into my top 5. What a special band they are. Guy Garvey is the best vocalist of this generation hands down. I've always said Noel Gallagher is the best lyricist of my generation, but Guy is above and beyond. Noel will always reign as the perfect pop "love song" songwriter for our generation, but for in depth songs/lyrics, fuck off Thom Yorke, Guy Garvey will destroy you. What a special show, and what a special band. They leave you spent, and they leave you loved.

I don't get them to be honest - while I wouldn't say they're shite, they're not that inspiring. In fact I'd go as far as to say their songs tend to be downright boring.

Just watching One Day Like This and Garvey sounds flat and out of tune. Chris Martin may be a knob but Coldplay will piss all over these later.

Agreed. One of the most overrated bands.

The fact you even compare them to Coldplay makes your opinion null and void. Two completely different bands and directions.
