Elderly Drivers

Whilst i can see what you're saying to a point , there's NOWHERE NEAR as many bad older drivers , as there are appalling younger ones .... not even close to it !

I work on an ambulance and driving an ambulance is hazardous at the best of times but i must agree, the amount of elderly drivers that just dont see us coming on blue lights is unreal and when they do notice you they do something crazy like stop dead/pull across lanes/stop on a blind bend!!! Having said this ive never been to a fatal RTC involving the elderly (i went to a crash once between two elderly couples, none were injured but both cars were undrivable so one of the couples got their daughter to come pick them up and they all went for a brew and something to eat together!) Fatal RTC's mainly involve males aged 17-25 and excessive speeding, usually with alcohol involved.

It annoys me this thread, everybody is just assuming that anybody under tha age of 21 is automatically a bad driver and it's frustrating, I am 19 and have been driving for just over 2 years, I am currently on a working holiday visa in Australia. I drive a truck for work daily and drive a 4.0 v6 car in the evenings. Without blowing my own trumpet I class myself as a good driver, never has any accidents or driving offenses. Now because of the amount of idiots my age who play up to the boy racer tag and make our insurance so high I will struggle to get insured back in The Uk. I was looking at quotes on my own insurance in a 600cc smart car - 11 years old worth 1500. Quote 3495 tt+f

Don't take your annoyance out on the Submit button, once is all it takes ;).

Jokes aside, I feel the same way. Just twats in our age group spoiling it for us.
If you want to get cheap insurance (or cheaper than that!)... Try the NFU. I'm with them, my 1.2 Punto costs me under £1000

Bloody stupid iPad. Just stops loading the new page so I keep clicking. I will try them, never heard of them. Cheers mate

You can add Bus drivers to this list aswell, bunch of wankers who assume they have right of way all the time, pull up blocking the road and are generally a bunch of tw@ts

i drive a bus thanks a lot! the pulling up bit are called bus stops, personally would prefer to drive on but it kind of defeats the object of having buses

haha no i dont mean at bus stops! on our street they have lay bys and they still block the road rather than pull in! maybe including all bus drivers was a bit harsh but had been one of them days ;)

I worked in car insurance 20 years ago. I used to work myself out quotes on my fantasy car when I was 17, Astra GTE! The premiums were £1500. Couldnt imagine what they would be now.

We used to mess about working out the most expensive quotes too and we got one premium upto £17000 once, think it was for a ferrari driven by a young ish member of the non uk armed forces. They must be accidents waiting to happen!

The driving standards here in the middle of nowhere,Spain are dire.If they're not trying to overtake you via your boot and roof, and that's the women...then there's the old giffers who passed their test in a tractor when Franco was a boy and drive accordingly. The kids cannot properly customise their cars due to insurance purposes so they all drive around in bangers that look like they ram raided Halford,.V8 Turbo diesel GTI Daewoo Matiz etc etc with tin cans as blown exhaust, honest, they are a joke.

young drivers (some) drive with no fear as they have no expectancy to die in their own minds!

However for me the worse by far are old people! Could give you 101 boring stories but i'll cut to the chase. I live very close to a post office and the scenes i witness daily are unbelievable. I often see drivers 80 + who drive so slow up to the P.O. pull onto the pavement at 5mph drive 20 yards and come to a sudden violent stop and park right next to the post box. it then takes them 10 mins to get out of the car walk two steps and post a letter then the whole process starts again. I've studied these drivers and throughout their manoevre they NEVER look left or right. It seems all the effort is used up looking into the rear mirror...once.

I keep saying its a matter of time befor a kid is killed outside the said P.O.
