He looked solid yesterday, much more confident on the ball than usual
Perhaps he's turned a corner?

Agreed the signs are good right now. I have noticed he the last few games in particular he doesn't go diving in like he used to and he doesn't need to he has the pace to burn. The other aspect is his distribution and position which again have shown a marked improvement. Lets just hope he can keep up the good work.

I will say this about Mangala he has a oportunity to really make Pep rethink on him. If he keeps playing well like he has in recent weeks then he will be making Pep think maybe who a new centre back replaces in the squad. We all look at Kompany and think how long will his body hold up. He has the ability to be a major player still at the club if he stays injury free. For me in a ideal world Belguim win the World Cup and he retires from international football then we might get 2 years out of him. As for the rest apart from Stones both Ottamendi and Mangala over the years have made mistakes but are looking a lot better this season. So why spend 50 million on VVD?? or 25 million on Johnny Evans when Mangala has looked better in the recent preformances. I think we will wait until the end of the season before we sign a new centre half.

It's certainly possible, considering we were trying to punt Delph on loan to Stoke in the Summer, he surely must have played himself in a longer future at the club.

Mangala's got a long way to go though.

Don’t think either VVD or Evans are on the radar anymore, and I hope we KEEP Mangala and nurture him. I think we will only look overseas, so we don’t pay over inflated money for donkeys, and buy a FOOTBALLER.

As always with the squad, the foreign-domestic make-up is going to be the issue. Do we have a young/domestic right back who can allow Danilo to leave and open a slot? Do we even look for a LB now, or find the quality young left footed central defender who can also fill in at left back in a pinch? Does Zinchenko get the opportunity to get some more time as a back up there?

So many moving parts to the squad, but the basics of the squad for the next 5 years is in place already. From here, it is the job of a sculptor, not a brickie!

THE FUTURE IS BLUE.

The fact that there were no posts on his performance against Leicester is telling.

Hardly put a foot wrong, another decent performance. Lets hope he continues this form at least until we have Stones and Kompany back to full fitness. Decent backup.

I popped on here at half time and loads were slagging him off. One poster said he's not even a professional footballer.

I thought he was tripe but we won so wasn't gonna knock anyone but if you insist.. There you go.

he's very good when he has time to launch his strength on opponent. that's usual in jumps, static situations and very slow ones. if it is the fast move, he is struggling to apply his strength as his leg-body coordination is awful in such situations.
