Re: Eliaquim Mangala

It's not Garcia is a terrible player. He is just very average mid table ish quality.

An average player in that midfield or worse defence where he simply cannot play sticks out like a sore thumb. For a team like Everton or Spurs he would probably be their best player in that position.

At city with the players we have its painfully obvious he is no where near the level of the players around him or that we seek to achieve. We have just been spoilt really in that area every other first team player is world class and amongst the best available. Unfortunately Richards is another one. We saw it on Saturday pele gave him a game and a chance so zabs could have a rest he simply is not good enough for even a squad place anymore.

In the summer it will be time for him to move on and find a team at the right sort of level where he can try and get properly fit again and playing regular. He has had hardly any football at all for the last 3 seasons. At this level that means he's never going to be a top player now, missed too much football.

We would have a player on our books with 'Quim' in his name.

Works for me.

Re: Eliaquim Mangala

I doubt we would swap Fernando with Garcia. Imagine Yaya gets injured, who will play alongside Fernandinho in the CL ? Fernando is cup tied, and Rodwell needs time to get back to his old level.

We desperately need a CB and an LB. Mangala can cover both positions. It would make sense if we're trying to get him in today.

Don't see any great urgency for a left back, also MDM has shown he can play in front of the back four, as cover aswell as Garcia can.

Re: Eliaquim Mangala

I don't buy into the belief that MDM has "proven" he can play in midfield. He's played about 4 times there for us, for about 20-30 minutes a time, each time against an opponent that was either utter shite, down to 10 men or just trying to hold on. I don't think he's done nearly enough to gamble our entire CL campaign on. Playing a half against a Championship side who are just hanging on really isn't the same as playing Barcelona
