I'm pretty sure many saw Fernandinho's arrival as slightly underwhelming, but he's turned out to be a great buy for us (based on his first season).
Zas and Kompany were hardly earth shattering buys at the time... but we'd not swap them for the earth now.
We've brought in marquee signing in the past, and a fair few didn't work out.

Apart from robinho and adebayor who hasnt worked out?

Kolo Toure, Wayne Bridge,

I don't think anyone would say agent Kolo didn't work out.
He's helped us win the league, and he's helped Liverpool fail to win it.

Mario scored a shit load of goals in the mid season when everyone else went off the boil or went playing golf, which helped win us the league. He also played a big part in us winning the FA cup. Mario was an important player for us and made an important contribution. Yes there were some strange moments but he does not get enough credit off people for his contributions.

Agree totally. He was one of our best players. The press hounded him and brought out the worst in him. He was instrumental in our annihilation of the scum at the swamp 1-6

I tried my best to like him and gave him the benefit of the doubt for the first 12 months or so.Not doubting the lads ability,when he could be bother to use it,but like another proven goalscorer still here with the club,he needed to put in a decent shift or two,that was my biggest complaint about him.
Water under the bridge now mate.Onwards and upwards again.

You are right and the funny thing is that things just fell right that season. Someone got sent off and someone else stepped up to the plate.
But Mario played a key role for us in that season. He scored more than 10 league goals I think that year. He is the best 20 year old that I have even seen playing for us anyway.
I understand people love him or loath him ( I think he is fantastic ) but imo he does not get enough credit for his contribution.
