Agree totally. He was one of our best players. The press hounded him and brought out the worst in him. He was instrumental in our annihilation of the scum at the swamp 1-6

He was also instrumental in us winning the league.Thank fuck he got sent off at Arsenal ... Bobby then couldn`t play him and the team after that looked far better and disciplined.

You are right and the funny thing is that things just fell right that season. Someone got sent off and someone else stepped up to the plate.
But Mario played a key role for us in that season. He scored more than 10 league goals I think that year. He is the best 20 year old that I have even seen playing for us anyway.
I understand people love him or loath him ( I think he is fantastic ) but imo he does not get enough credit for his contribution.
Sorry I have derailed the thread a little.
More trouble than he is worth

Always a red card waiting to happen

Mario scored a shit load of goals in the mid season when everyone else went off the boil or went playing golf, which helped win us the league. He also played a big part in us winning the FA cup. Mario was an important player for us and made an important contribution. Yes there were some strange moments but he does not get enough credit off people for his contributions.

Agreed I loved Mario, amazing player, Blackburn away, Spurs last minute, Rags 1v6, Semi Final, shoulder v Norwich

Many of my mates hated him though, still to this day I can't understand it.
My only thought is that the media had got to them

Or they just remember the laziness, the fights and the needless red cards and make their own judgement?

For the record, I both like and rate Mario; there's just no denying how frustrating he is.

Re: Eliaquim Mangala

Don't Porto have to release transfer data to the stock exchange?

You never know, with Porto signing Bruno Martins Indi last week everything might have got finalized over the weekend and we may get an announcement later today.

I reckon it will be this week anyway, Manuel will want him in The States next week.
