Re: Eliaquim Mangala

According to the press this morning Pellers told this is the last of this summers spending - thats the same press who keep harping on that the rags have a £200m warchest - despite the fact they clearly have already spent over a quarter of that sum and also that they are about to break the world transfer fee record........... ho hum

I still hope we start the season with Kompany and Demichelis as our first choice centre backs. They were on fire as a partnership in the second half of last season and we have some big games coming up in the first 6 weeks. We can't afford to start this season as we did last, dropping silly points. My fear is he will come in, and because of his big price tag he will be installed into the first team immediately. He should be bedded in.
That's the problem. A central defender needs a lot of time to bed-in. if we do sign him, it'll be another Demichelis situation where it'll take half a season before he's playing well.

Big blow to miss pre-season, and anyone who thinks we're deliberately not completing the deal completely underestimates the importance of preparation. Pellegrini would have wanted the player in before the tour.

We have Liverpool, arsenal and Chelsea in the first 5 weeks. I would give him the game against Stoke and see how he gets on. He's a young player and should not have the self entitlement where he feels he should be an automatic starter at a club of our stature. If he accepts being 4th choice in a shithouse French defence, then he should understand the Importance of us getting off to a good start in the league with the players who know the system. Going by some of the media snippets however, there Is a good chance he will in fact expect to be an automatic starter from day one. Hopefully he is a humble chap and I have misjudged him slightly.

Re: Eliaquim Mangala

Our Brazillian and Argentinian players won't arrive back to City till next week, Pellers says they will need 15 days to get them fit, it will be touch and go whether MDM will start with Kompany. However on a slightly longer view MDM in the last year of contract and if he can be available to anchor the side with Kompany till Mangala finds his feet and starts to get used to prem league that is fine by me.

Looks like our starting back four then will be Sagna, VK, Nasty and AK. Not the best but could be worse.

Re: Eliaquim Mangala

If its gonna take 15 days to get the WC players fit, with Kompany not back till the 4th surely he will miss the Charity shield and Newcastle game? With Mangala (probably) MDM and Kompany out, who will start along side Nastasic? Boyata, Rekik or Garcia? If im honest I think Mangala will bed in really quickly if he was to join he is a different kind of defender to any of the others at the club he is more aggressive and likes to play on the front foot which will allow Kompany to sweep up anything he misses, MDM is a much more intelligent defender and relies on being well organised and reading the game which is why he took awhile to bed in, Mangala on the other hand relies on his impressive physical abilities which will allows him to recover from most mistakes he makes while he settles.

thought it was only the Brazilans and Argentinians who were coming back on the 4th.

Re: Eliaquim Mangala

Think Sagna and Kompany are back on the 4th and thought that MDM, Aguero, Zabaleta and Fernandinho were due back later next week. Not 100% sure though.

French reports breaking as we speak that mangala has arrived in England today. ( I think ). My wife's French a bit rusty.

For any French speakers.

Re: Eliaquim Mangala

Nothing to get excited about there, unfortunately. It says that The Times is reporting that Mangala could become a City player in the coming days... nothing new really.
