City manager Manuel Pellegrini is eager to push through the signing of defender Elaquim Mangala from Porto before the league season begins at Newcastle.

"I hope so," said the Chilean. "Maybe we need some papers but we continue our interest in the player who wants to come so we'll see what happens.

Brilliant so before the game he is a City player after the game we hope he will be. That Pellegrini is making it up as he goes along give us a date!

Seriously it does look like tomorrow, might deflect from our awful performance today.

He was probably told to make sure he stated that Mangala hadn't signed after the game but im assuming its all done in city's eyes just waiting for Porto to announce. Have we announced a signing first this year? Racing announced Zucilini, Arsenal announced Sagna, Porto announced Fernando, Manny let Lampard's loan slip in an interview and I think Malaga announced Willy.

He'll fit right in... as we know he's French but also speaks Spanish well & his English is poor.

Didn't know Mangala spoke spanish, but at least he can communicate with pretty much every player, a big part of our squad speaks either spanish or french: Kompany, Yaya, Nasri, Clichy, Sagna, Zabaleta, Silva, Aguero, Negredo, Navas, Demichelis, Caballero and Zuculini.
