Hefty fee that. I would complain about the price but the men behind our transfer know what they are doing.

FC Porto have a 40m€ offer from mcfc to sell Mangala.

Journo for these apparently.

40 million euros? I call BS. If we couldn't put that towards Cavani/Falcao, i sure as hell don't think we will for a defender considering we have Kompany/Nastasic/Rekik and MDM was bought just this summer. I really like Negredo btw, and i am glad we got him over the other 2.

Anyone seen much of Mangala? Is he good enough to justify the kind of transfer fees being mentioned?

Seen a couple of Porto matches the past few years, and he looked to me to be very strong young player.

Past that, all I know is that Cheeky & Co. seem to have well-earned the benefit of the doubt as to talent evaluation. If they think he's worth it then he probably is.

He's only 22 as well, so got plenty of years on him.

Quick question - were Ferran and Cheeky still at Barca when they splashed all the cash on Dmytro Chygrynskiy? If so then maybe their judgement on high priced defenders from lesser leagues might not be the best

For the love of God would someone not offer the Porto scouts and negotiators a job at City?

This would take the profit made on player sales to about £400 million in the last 10 years. An average of £40 million profit per year! We're not a selling club anymore but they are obviously doing something right.

Agreed. I feel slightly insecure that he'd be coming from the portugese league and only has 1 cap so hasn't proved himself at international level but you have to have faith in Cheeky and co after the summer we just had. As for the fee, well it'd be one hell of a fucking fee, but I don't mind paying top dollar for young players who we should get years and years out of. I'd also expect the fee to be a much smaller fee up front with a load of add ons and other shit

I'd have thought that another centre midfielder was the priority though, but I'm sure there's a plan in place

depps - I thought they were (JoeMercer'sWay you sure about that - can't be arsed checking), but after our summer personally either way I'm happy to trust them
