De Bruyne was the best final ball player the league has and likely will ever see - and arguably the best pound for pound player - but Anderson is more complete for the deeper role he plays and what we require from him - tenacity, close control in tighter spaces, capacity to dictate the tempo.

I don’t think people realise how good Anderson is/will become by playing with and against better players here and in the Champions League.
 
He gives me much more of a Steven Gerrard vibe than Kevin De Bruyne. I think he could be an excellent combination with Rodri, but we shouldn’t expect, or realistically demand, double-digit goals or assists from him right now. Maybe that will come later, but that’s not really what he brings to the table at the moment.
 
I think the lad has the potential to be a great player in his own right.

Pep said there was a table, at the top, with Messi sat on his own.
…at the very next table is KdB

Maybe in playing the next decade at City, Anderson will earn his own spot on that second table, but right now he’s just an exciting talent.

You need IQ to play as an 8 in a Pep team. That’s why Bernardo Silva is still one of the best even though his legs have started to go. Grealish played as an 8 and a 10 vs Juventus, when we lost 2-0, and there were multiple clips of him getting told to move into different positions because he was always ball watching.

Were they ever even in the running for Rice or Bellingham? I dont remember them being.

imho he is closer to me to Bellingham/Rice now, if he develops end product more he may go Gundogan path
