We have plenty of players to sell who add nothing to the team apart from this thing that people cling to called squad depth but in reality these players are no more useful than EDS lads and are in fact blocking EDS lads chances.

No, it doesn't work. We saw what happened last season when we were so stretched that we had to start relying on the EDS kids. We found out how important squad depth was then when we didn't have enough of it

It just doesn't work, and can also harm their development if thrown in at the deep end before they're ready and the results don't go out way. One or two will cope, most won't. Alleyne was a good example. Clubs don't spend hundreds of millions on players just for the sake of it.
